Ced has most of the tools... he just needs to develop a midrange jumper. he can't play 5 in the NBA, so he can't depend on good low post moves.

12/12/2005 10:39:15 AM
I think its a little early to make a call on Cedric...he's still raw....If he sticks around all four years he's gonna have to show massive improvement... the NBA doesnt like 22 y/o big men unless they are polished, they are much more lenient with young guys.I know the NBA (and MLB) scouts were very interested in Brackman last year.I could def see Bennerman eventually playing in the league. He certainly has the athleticism to play at the next level. I'd compare him favorably to a guy like Dahntay Jones... i thinh he'll be in the NBDL next year at the very least...[Edited on December 12, 2005 at 10:45 AM. Reason : a]

i agree with everything said here. i think the only other person who has a legitimate shot (not including the freshman) is grant. he needs to become way more consistent however.
12/12/2005 11:27:24 AM
Gavin has good size and speed. If he could keep improving his ball handling skills he would make for a good point guard although he can't really shoot the 3. Maybe this is out on a limb, but I believe before the injuries and illness, Tony Bethel could have at least got a shot in the D League as a point guard.
12/12/2005 12:17:22 PM
gavin grant can't dribble or pass

What?Bennerman can't shoot or dribble, atleast not consistently. And what pos would he play? The nba is full of guys like him (who are bigger) Im going with encino man all the way.
12/12/2005 7:29:30 PM
Courtney Fells should make it once herb starts playing him
12/12/2005 8:07:19 PM
^^If Grundy can make an NBA roster to start the season, Bennerman definitely has a shot...
12/12/2005 8:14:11 PM
12/12/2005 9:54:25 PM
Grundy could atleast shoot and dribble (to some extent). Cam can't do either
12/12/2005 11:46:54 PM
grundy played better defense, too
12/12/2005 11:50:01 PM
Grundy was 10 times the player that Bennerman will ever be. He was first-team all-ACC as a senior, and finished 3rd in the POY voting. Show some respect.
12/12/2005 11:51:43 PM
I'm sorry, Grundy was not that good. Please tell me you simply looked at awards to judge his talent. No one who forced the ball into traffic, threw up that many ugly shots, and made that many late game turnovers is a player worth revering. this means you too, Julius.
12/12/2005 11:55:51 PM
^revisionist history.
12/12/2005 11:58:12 PM
grundy was awesome his senior year (sans the NCAA tournament games), but Bennerman has a huge edge in size...Bennerman has a pretty good chance of playing in the pros, he's an elite athlete.
12/12/2005 11:59:58 PM
its amazing bennerman didn't amount to anything while he was year. he should have worked harder
12/13/2005 12:02:32 AM
Dammit you're an idiot. Grundy and Hodge were clearly the 2 best players that we've had over the last 7 years. For you to constantly bitch and moan about the occasional turnovers and mistakes that came with the scoring, rebounding, passing and defense that those guys brought just shows that your opinion is worthless when it comes to NC State basketball.
12/13/2005 12:03:05 AM
Bennerman will make it eventually, Ced possibly, Brack if he continues to show bball drive(which is dwindling) and Shoosh could make a roster in a few years but will prolly go back to Europe where he can be a star.
12/13/2005 12:03:43 AM
how successful has the team been in clutch situations over the last 7 years? how many times was the ball in the hands of Grundy or Hodge in said situations? I'm not completely trashing them as players, but good lord, people need to stop fellating them like ESPN does to Vick and Favre.
12/13/2005 12:05:27 AM
^^haha, no way evtimov makes it in the NBA.[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 12:06 AM. Reason : df]
12/13/2005 12:06:01 AM
oh please, i fucking respect Grundy...but if you don't see the talent Bennerman has, you're fucking nuts. problem is he doesn't seem to mesh with the system very well, and i think he gets a bad rap because of it. but once the ACC tournament rolls around and he hits a few clutch shots you guys will all start sucking his dick again...shit, we heard a lot shit about Damien Wilkins sucking too... and where did he end up??
12/13/2005 12:07:18 AM
^^How bout Cliff Crawford and Scooter then(don't forget about archie either.)
12/13/2005 12:07:29 AM
what the hell can bennerman do besides dunk? he is talented no doubt. But im sorry Not the NBA. There are plenty athletes out there just like him.
12/13/2005 12:10:55 AM
12/13/2005 12:11:04 AM
Let me state for the record that I am Cameron "Bees" Bennerman superfan #1
12/13/2005 12:11:15 AM
It is amazing how some of you are so biased towards our players making it to the NBA.The only ones on the current roster that have a chance are brackman and simmons, mostly due to their height, and they have the potential to improve. The rest either dont have the "potential" that the nba looks for, size (Bennerman), oft injured (Evtimov) or some just have yet to prove their worth (like Grant/freshmen).
12/13/2005 12:12:21 AM
here here
12/13/2005 12:13:33 AM
There are plenty of NBA players who are built like Bennerman. With his leaping ability, he would make a great shooting guard if he could shoot.
12/13/2005 12:14:26 AM
But he can't
12/13/2005 12:14:59 AM
I agree. But it won't be his size that keeps him out of the NBA like JP was saying.
12/13/2005 12:15:30 AM
12/13/2005 12:16:26 AM
How many do you expect him to make, cocksucker? How much blame are you putting on our obvious inability to draw up game winning plays? How about our lack of other players who step up?[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 12:21 AM. Reason : sdf]
12/13/2005 12:19:43 AM
Actually, I named 2 games. And I'll throw in a 3rd: Maryland in the ACC tourney. The 3-pt dagger that handed the Twerps its last loss of the year.[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 12:20 AM. Reason : How could you forget that tongue?]
12/13/2005 12:19:47 AM
^^^^if not his size, perhaps his lack of defense
12/13/2005 12:21:05 AM
perhaps his lack of anything besides a fucking highlight dunk. NBA, u gotta be kidding me. Maybe if he played for duke (then politics would get him there) a la Dahntay JonesI retract that, Dahntay would D your ass up every now and then[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 12:23 AM. Reason : my bad]
12/13/2005 12:22:49 AM
I am a big Bennerman fan, but he isn't even a regular starter on our team. He has more of a chance of making it on the and1 tour than the NBA. I went to high school with him and can honestly say that he only shows up for important games, IE ACC tournament his sophmore year and last year, and the NCAA tournament last year against UCON and UNCC. He hasn't put up any impressive numbers, and the only skill he can show off to scouts is his dunking ability. Unfortunately, there are a ton of guys his size that are good at dunking and are more complete basketball players. He either needs to grow a few inches, or learn how to handle the ball.
12/14/2005 12:15:39 AM
^wrong. bennerman cant even dribble, let alone dribble in his shirt. no and1 for him.
12/14/2005 12:17:04 AM
cam has good athleticism but i don't know about his decisions sometimeshow many teams are searching for someone to throw up long bricks in transition?
12/14/2005 12:28:34 AM
I dont think you guys are assessing the situation properly. The NBA is a game suited more to Cams strengths... athleticism, open looks, room to drive...Keep in mind that Cam has never had:A) a point guardB) a good coachI'd say he's at least 50-50 to make the NBA... I dont see him getting a 5 year $30 million deal anytime soon, but I think he'll make the league, whether its next year or a few seasons down the road.
12/14/2005 12:46:52 AM
^u cannot possible be serious???
12/14/2005 9:41:04 AM
cam couldn't play defense until sendek forced him to learn. i wonder what his draft status would have been withoutA) the ability to play defense
