Hello guys, I'm doing Chin Motorsports VIR full today and tomorrow. I realize this is short notice but I talked about it elsewhere, and it didn't occur to me to post this till now...Anyway, I'll be there with a bunch of buddies, and we're allowed to have passengers (in advanced group). If anybody wants to hitch a ride (bring your helmet, sign waiver and pay $20), come on over. My name is Ahmet, and I'll be driving my 944 Turbo S solo: Really don't mind having another person in the car, so this IS a sincere invitation to anybody on this board.Hope to see some of you out there. Ahmet[Edited on December 10, 2005 at 3:36 AM. Reason : pictars!]

^^no, you can pay 20 dollars and sit in the passenger seat while Ahmet drives his porsche 944
12/10/2005 6:03:40 PM
ride alongs with rookies, thats about as fun as watching grass grow
12/10/2005 6:44:48 PM
Slowback96, excuse my over simplification, but if you thought you could run your car for $20 at ANY track in NA, I'm going to guess that you have no on track experience what-so-ever.If this IS the case, than you may have found this "ride along with a rookie" somewhat of an eye opener. The cars that show up at Chin's events are usually pretty capable, which can make for a more fun than average track session (I'm infront of the Ferraris-->Viper, behind the BMW):Ahmet

it'd be fun to go but i have to study
12/10/2005 8:25:38 PM

12/10/2005 8:37:39 PM
Sounds like Ahmet is trying to be personable and all you guys can do is flame. I'd enjoy a lap around VIR if I could make it, but I'm busy tomorrow. Have fun.

well im sorry ahmet but im going to VIR next weekend and driving around the track for 25 bucks. and yes i do have track experiance i was just kidding about the ride along with the rookies thing i was just makin fun, and im sure you could out drive me any day. sorry for the comment
12/11/2005 6:29:06 PM
those NASA events if im not mistaking are free to enter, and free for you to ride with other racers. and you can pay like $10 during lunch for parade laps.but its still a good experience for anyone.
12/11/2005 8:56:37 PM
12/11/2005 9:10:49 PM
^thats a lotta damn track time for 2 days. but yeah, $25 sounds pretty shady. unless you got the hookup.hell cheapest ive paid is $150 (3 of us signed up at once) and that wasnt VIR. and now that im solo i can get it down to like $100 if anything. i havnt seen an event cheaper than like $350 at VIR. (i think ive paid like $350, not sure but damn it wasnt $25.)
12/11/2005 9:14:40 PM
no not a hot lap at all but i think i heard you can "rent an instuctor" if that means anything. ive been around vir once and it was in the pass seat of a suburban not to fun. im going up there with a few buddies and i think the triangle z club will be going as well. i cant wait to drive around the track it looks like a fun track. anyone else going
12/11/2005 9:18:46 PM
Ya, there's a big difference between a hot lap and a parade lap or a no-passing lapping session.I need to start instructing, this event cost me pretty penny, even for an advanced student. Baonest, where can you go for $100 (I go solo as well)? 11 hours IS quite a bit of track time, I logged around 500 miles on my car. It was a blast, and man I hate this Porsche, but shit it's fast.slowback, I don't think anybody will let you do a hot lap for anything close to $25, infact even $150 sounds quite low to me.I will upload a gallery soon, you guys are free to look through them if anybody's interested.Ahmet
12/11/2005 9:23:38 PM
Why do you hate your ride?
12/11/2005 9:48:38 PM
That's what I'm sayin' y0.
12/11/2005 9:53:18 PM
goto seat-time.comits around roebling road. a pretty decent course.i think its usually $150 for an event. then instructor fee costs $50 (so $200 total). and if you are solo you dont pay that $50. and we got like 3 of us to sign up and the head guy, Jon, knocked off like $50 a peice. we all payed $150 with an instructor. so im guessing next time if we all join then hopefully we get a group rate and -$50 for instructor fee. $100 sounds too good to be true, probably more along the lines of $125 or something.
12/11/2005 10:06:10 PM
If I had more of a momentum car, that would be a lot more appealing to me. Roebling road is just not the same with a high horsepower car. I like that track fine though, and wouldn't pass it for $150...I... This car makes me over drive it, I get too caught up in playing with the RSR here and the Viper there. It hates changing direction, and wants you to be on power long before you NEED the power. Frustrating, because I want to do SO much to it. I was on track playing with these cars on an essentially stock car, didn't even lower the factory coil overs, or adjust the factory shocks. The car was chipped running only 15.5psi (chips are good to 18), and pads. That's it, factory stock otherwise. Anyway, time for me to grab something else I guess. Maybe this was meant to be, I've tracked what like 7 different cars now? I do enjoy this car a lot, we'll see I guess.Ahmet
12/11/2005 10:15:20 PM
ahmet just keep flipping a few more cars, save your $ up and buy a used 360 from one of the challenge teams.
12/11/2005 10:34:15 PM
Eh, doubt I'll make too much money on this S, should not have tracked it, and when I did that, should not have told everybody around the Porsche circles around... These people don't understand that a well maintained car won't explode in a 100 miles cause it's been on track, I mean c'mon this isn't a corvette! Ahmet
12/11/2005 10:49:43 PM
its even got a factory cd player yo
12/11/2005 11:07:12 PM
what u tryin to say
12/12/2005 12:11:58 AM
Heh, I knew that'd get ya!Nothing, just that I'm out there for an hour and a half at a time, and most the vettes are blowing seals and boiling brake fluid and whatnot, only out for 15-20 mins of hot lapping at a time... No, C5s are very capable cars, and I'm jealous. If I wasn't such a sucker for turbos, that'd be my next car. Infact, having a turbo @VIR was a lot of work, and I couldn't help but think about what I'd be doing in an NA car... If I had that though, I'd just want something else.Ahmet
12/12/2005 12:27:20 AM
Yea the ceramic pads on most street driven C5's doesnt last too long on the track from what I've read. Oh well, maybe one of these days I'll put some new sway bars on this damn thing and take it to a track...right now mine handles like ass[Edited on December 12, 2005 at 12:41 AM. Reason : oh, hows that camera doing?]
12/12/2005 12:41:37 AM
You're looking at it's pictures, it's great. You should tag along to the next event we go to, whatever you drive, you could always stand to drive it better. Work on the driver, not the car! C5's plenty car, even if it's falling apart. Come drive it!Ahmet
12/12/2005 1:01:50 AM
damn, those pics did come out good. I might just do that, I think paying to drive on the track might be a little better than paying my lawyers to get me out of all these speeding and careless/reckless driving tickets
12/12/2005 1:13:09 AM
12/12/2005 1:27:16 AM
yea careless/reckless was automatic for the 97 in a 70 ticket, oopsat least he didn't give me the ticket for the full 110mph that he clocked me at [Edited on December 12, 2005 at 1:42 AM. Reason : but the one for a doughnut in front of the cop wasn't so automatic for speeding...d'oh]

12/12/2005 1:12:39 PM
12/12/2005 2:26:26 PM
Driving on track hasn't really had an effect on how I drive on the street, maybe a bit more respect for the road/conditons, but that might just be getting older... I did get a ticket on my way to the track, clocked @89, ticket was written for 64 in a 55 for which I am very thankfull. Skack, I will be asking 16ish for it. I would take 15, but probably not any less.Hunter, I would've loved to have ridden in your civic out there. With that said, there was several cars that would be much faster than yours @VIR. Rockingham was well suited for your car, I would imagine Roebling would be too, but not VIR Full...Ahmet
12/12/2005 2:31:21 PM
you know of any lap times the quicker cars were running there? i imagine in the trim mine is now, i could see 2:14-15's around full course. last year in the itr racecar, we turned a couple 2:17 laps w/ a bad master cylinder
