nice...i don't get people who do motor swaps and don't spend the time / 200 bucks it costs to make it look nice.

that 951 is awsome, a little overpriced though
1/5/2006 2:37:06 PM
Someone just forwarded an e-mail about Ahmet's 944 S to me with a note saying "this is all you." It was sent out at Cisco through their rtp-forsale list.
1/5/2006 2:52:05 PM
i used to think craigslist was porn
1/5/2006 3:01:26 PM
craiglist.com is porn...or so I've been told. I'm not trying it to find out (at work.)
1/5/2006 3:04:18 PM
it is i typed in the wrong address AT WORK once
1/5/2006 3:12:03 PM
Yeap, it is for sale unfortunately... I want to build something else, something a bit off the wall and not "nice", probably like this:You think it's over priced? I dunno, it's very very nice. It should be putting around 330ft-lbs at the wheels, that's not too shabby for that car. If you go to autotrader.com and search for 88 turbo S and 89 turbos, sort by milege the two lowest cars that come up are both 70k+ miles asking 17.8k and 18.9k.I've turned down a 15k offer, but if it doesn't sell for some time, I'll have to back off on the price...Ahmet
1/5/2006 3:36:20 PM
you shoulda took the 15k offer and ran with it. i see no reason to hold out for 900 more dollars.
1/5/2006 8:48:15 PM
Well I bought this car to run VIR w/it and I would not consider selling before that, so it wasn't the money. I'd take 15k, but if you search on auto trader, cars with higher milege are asking $2-3k more than I am.Ahmet
1/6/2006 8:50:58 AM
are people looking to spend 15k on an '86 porsche really watching auto trader?
1/6/2006 8:03:14 PM
isnt that ahmet guy the one that was asking like $texas for a volvo station wagon and got pissy when it didnt sell and everyone told him he was asking way too much?
1/7/2006 9:29:17 AM
"are people looking to spend 15k on an '86 porsche really watching auto trader?"I don't like autotraders business practices, so I avoid them on principal -even though I realize they're the best way to sell a car. The car was NOT advertised on autotrader, but craigslist (I think you may have mis-typed that). Anyway, it sold 4 days after advertising. That's the only place it was listed."isnt that ahmet guy the one that was asking like $texas for a volvo station wagon and got pissy when it didnt sell and everyone told him he was asking way too much?"Kind of rude for you to refer to me in the 3rd person, but whatever floats your boat. I wouldn't say I was asking too much for the volvos, though the people here disagreed. Same deal happened w/the 944 turbo here, and I did get a bunch of e-mails from people telling me I was asking too much (or that I was looking for a sucker to buy it, etc.). The car sold it w/in a few hundred dollars of my asking price to the first person that came to look at it, again, 4 days after I advertised the car, the sale is complete. Draw your own conclusions.Ahmet
1/8/2006 12:22:09 PM
Note, I've sold 2 Volvos, one for $200 less than my asking price, and one @my asking price. I have never had to wait over 3 weeks to sell a car (or the motorcycles I've owned) in the past, and I've sold well over a dozen.Ahmet
1/8/2006 12:23:52 PM
ahmet you misunderstood me, i was asking if using the autotrader listed vehicles as a comparison was really accurate. im quite sucessful in selling a used car here and there too, and have always found autotrader to be full of people asking grossly inflated prices for their shit.
1/8/2006 2:14:25 PM
I see what you're saying. Autotrader has been a mixed bag from my experience, but is certainly a more accurate display of what the cars bring than KBB or NADA. According to them my car was worth closer to $7k, if that... I bet it would've pulled closer to $20k if I waited for the right buyer, but I'm an impatient person.Ahmet

Ooh. I'd better let my uncle know about this one. He's a Celica FREAK. Yep, he's the one that lent me the 'vert '85 GT-S. He's also the one I got the black GT-S from.
1/14/2006 3:19:20 PM
my dad had a 79 celica five speed with the 20R when i was a kid- in fact after it reached retirement status it stayed in the driveway long enough for me to play with it some. before i could get it running though, it got the cutlass and the celica got hauled off.

you build/find a car with a full roll cage, racing seats, 5-point harnesses, coilovers, all poly bushings/motor mounts that runs reliably for less. price is negotiable, btw.and, it has fairly new brakes, rear wheel bearings, cv axles, plugs, wires, dist cap & rotor, coil, and probably some other crap..[Edited on January 20, 2006 at 3:38 PM.
