I'm not going to be able to make it up for the Heritage Game tomorrow. If anyone has pictures of the renovation of Reynolds, please post them in here so I can see what it looks like.... Thanks!

it's really nothing special, I prefer the old reynolds quite honestly. And I think it looks really weird without windows all around the top of the building.[Edited on December 9, 2005 at 2:50 PM. Reason : ]
12/9/2005 2:36:18 PM
what are they doing?
12/9/2005 2:43:28 PM
I wonder if they are going to replace the old windows....
12/9/2005 2:47:35 PM
btttanyone take good pictures at the game this weekend?
12/12/2005 9:21:49 AM
you'd probably get better shots when the place is empty by taking pictures today
12/12/2005 9:35:54 AM
I'm in Wilmington, and won't be going through Raleigh until the 23rd....

I was saddened by the renovationsThe biggest problem I had was they got rid of the old style lights and especially the noise/crowd meter...and the end seats being the new style completely destroyed the crowd factor...it used ot look like so many more people but now the send sections are wider but shorter
12/12/2005 4:09:29 PM
I was definitely disappointed by the lack of can lights above the entire floor, but I almost cried when I noticed that the noise meter was gone.
12/12/2005 4:50:19 PM
maybe the noise meter will be in the RBC in time for ACC play.
12/12/2005 4:52:27 PM
why the hell is reynolds so damn long?
12/12/2005 4:53:59 PM
12/12/2005 4:56:21 PM
so said the herb sendek show last night - apparently reynolds was to be the same size as cameron, but since the construction was delayed b/c of the war, they had time to make changes, so they added the extra seats in the middle -they also said the architect for cameron and reynolds was one and the same
12/12/2005 5:02:10 PM
They're almost identical, aside from the added length of Reynolds and the design choice to make the upper level overhang the back of the lower level instead of being flush to the last row of lower seats like Cameron.

BTW, if you don't have a copy of the book Raleigh's Reynolds Coliseum, get one. There are a TON of awesome pictures in it, including some from the floor of Reynolds with the ice and hockey boards installed.
12/12/2005 6:32:57 PM
forgive me for being so dumb and ignorant toward reynold's history...but it was an ice rink?
12/12/2005 6:49:26 PM
Not any more than the RBC is an ice rink...but Reynolds had a configuration to seat 10,000 with a full-size hockey rink on the floor. It hosted exhibition games between teams in the East Coast league in fits and starts for a while, nothing more serious than that. They have copies of the book at Quail Ridge and most likely in the Catalyst Bookshop, and as the shots seem to be from the archives, I'm sure marko or someone else could dig them up.

^ wrongthe majority of the steel beams for reynolds were put up before construction was haulted due to WWIIduring the war, NCSU decided they wanted to seat more than cameron, so they used the only option available without tearing down the already built structure... they made it longerconstruction was completed after the war was over, so they could have torn down the existing structure and started over, but rather decided to just extend the building
12/12/2005 7:33:21 PM
^exactly. that's why you have those stupid seats that are at an angle to the court
12/12/2005 7:35:45 PM
well god damn learn something everyday....ill have to check my dads book when i go home for christmas...

12/13/2005 10:39:24 AM
I'm guessing it's the same one mentioned earlier in the thread. If so, it'd be this:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0738514411/qid=1134489430/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-8710582-3207163?n=507846&s=books&v=glance[Edited on December 13, 2005 at 10:58 AM. Reason : link]

^i really wish the men's program didn't leave Reynolds.
4/10/2014 11:49:32 PM
I just wish they played a couple acc games there each season.....even the less demanded games would be ok with me...
4/11/2014 11:21:39 AM
The new capacity is going to be tiny. 5500 I believe...
4/11/2014 11:58:48 AM
^^ problem is "less demanded" > 5500...but I'm with ya[Edited on April 11, 2014 at 12:03 PM. Reason : ]

That looks outstanding. Should be a boon to Solomon Grundy's recruiting efforts.

I assume they'll keep using it for high school championships as well? I don't know how they feel about the capacity shrinking. I know Minges in Greenville usually hosted regionals and is slightly bigger.
