I will be moving soon and am noticing that a lot of the places I am looking, the security deposit is dependent on credit or waived on approved credit. My credit is average/good...so what should that mean as far as what I'll owe?

I think it probably depends on the apartment complex as to how strict they are with credit ratings. I live at University Village (owned by the Preiss Co., as are about two million others), and they're pretty lenient. I have barely any credit and they let me by without a deposit. I think they're looking mainly for people with really nasty credit.

If I remember, too, I think the security deposit for people with bad credit was only $100 or so.
