^ nope, i think he means manual transmissions that can be shifted by computer.

grand prix is an automatic transmission, torque converter, valve body, etc.

it depends. BigMan157 needs to tell us whether he means any form of semi-manual shifting, including switch intervention on an auto or whether he literally means a computer controlled manual. There's a lot of either, but the DSG audis (and VW's soon) are the only cheap paddle-shifted manuals.

so....
VW Audi/ DSG...
found in Audi TT v6, some cars equipped with the new 2.0T VW engine: a3, maybe a4, probably soon on the Jetta, coming soon to the new golf GTI and r32 (which will be a 3-door, meaning the 5-door a3 is the only one we get). And of course the new bugatti Veyron, but I think Ricardo built that one, it's a 7-speeder...

BMW's smg... e46 m3's, new m5, pretty sure it wasn't available with the previous m5... I think you can get SMG on the z4, or maybe I just saw that in pics for the new M roadster (coming out this year for those who missed it... expect to see it in writeups for detroit and LA auto shows next month)

Magnetti Marelli customers....
Lambo E-gear (gallardo, Maranello), Ferrari F1's- f355 (first car to have f1, or any other true paddle-shifted manual, way older than the rest of the cars here, btw), 550 Maranello, 575M, 612 Scaglietti, 360 Modena, F430, Enzo; recent aston martins... Vanquish was the first, DB7's, even the V12 powered Vantages, GT's, Zagatos, and AR1's never had it. Db9, v8 vantage when it's available.

Porsche has one, they just aren't selling it yet. Porsche used one in the 70's for the 917 racers, Audi was imitating them when they built one for their quattro rally cars. Porsche is definitely going to have one on the 997 turbo and gt2 and gt3 when those are available. It will probably replace tiptronic as the "automatic" option, thus removing the unholy torque converters from our porsches! hooray!

So yeah, if you want to see DSG or any other semi-auto-manual in action, go drive an audi a3. If you like it, get in line for a GTI when it comes out, because that'll probably be cheaper.

V pretty sure that's a no. The new corvettes have a new 6 speed automatic that, like most expensive cars today, have a manual-shifting option. The one in the new corvette is considered damn good from what I've read, and is making loud noises for a not-so-new idea because the previous 4-speeder was an embarassment for a car like the vette.

i'm driving an 06 Jetta GLI w/ the 6 speed dsg (dad's car, mine's broken) for the week, its pretty impressive, especially in a sub-30,000 car. blips the throttle and rev matches perfectly on downshifts everytime.

Ferrari Style would imply computer controlled clutch engagement, not some gay torque converter automatic with paddles

im saying the 2.0t NON GLI. GLI has xenons, diff wheels, and a few other things the std. 2.0 doesnt.

Do you know what DSG is? I suggest you try it before you call it gay.

no such thing. 2.0t is GLI regardless of options.

GLI comes standard with 17" and optional 18". pack 1 is i think moonroof and satellite radio. package 2 is better seats, cold weather package and some other stuff. 18" wheels arent part of either package.

I'll answer for you

I understand what you mean. yes the 2.0t is available in a regular jetta. The GLI, which comes with the 2.0, does list for much less that 30k unless you get the package 2.
