It sticks around and rattles."-- Carina Chocano, LOS ANGELES TIMES"There are very few moments in Kiyoshi Kurosawa's fiercely original, thrillingly creepy horror movie that don't evoke a dreamlike dread of the truly unknown."-- Anita Gates, NEW YORK TIMES "With brooding visuals and a thematically charged text, Kairo warns against the destructive, dehumanizing power of the internet."-- Stina Chyn, FILM THREAT "Kurosawa's concept of an instant-messenger-aided apocalypse is honestly one of the eeriest, most lyrical visions I've ever seen on a screen."-- Andrew Wright, THE STRANGER (SEATTLE, WA)I haven't seen it yet, but I'm pretty excited. I honestly wouldn't be interested if it weren't for the reivews. I fucking hated Ju-On and didn't really like Ringu either. So we'll see.

there's an american version of this coming out really soon.america needs to start getting original again, instead of re-making foreign films, re-making old films, and creating unnecessary prequels.

i dont see a problem remaking an interesting foreign film to be more "american." i liked the ring a lot more than ringu. it is no worse than revamping a shakespearean idea and calling it your own.

I think The Ring was a much better movie than Ringu. There have certainly been American remakes of foreign films that have been good, but most have probably sucked. Alas, this discussion has been had a million times before.
