You might try doing a burn simulation with Nero, or perhaps just burning to an image instead of to a disk. If there is a problem with the file itself that you're burning, it will show up in the image creation process. If it is a problem with the media or burner, it will show up in the burning process, and therefore would not come up when creating an image or doing a test burn simulation.

You wouldn't be trying to burn, say, a couple thousand files to the disk, would you? Once, I tried to burn a crapload of little files to DVD, and it failed like that. There might be a file number limit or something, I dunno.

It says that simulation is not possible for this type of disc. I am using a DVD+R, which is the only type of DVD's I have right now. My dvd burner can do every type of discs tho, and I have burnt data to these before.

How would I burn to an image instead of a disc?
The files I have is one folder with about 100 files, and three .rar files.

If you're in Nero, there is a "destination" drop-box that has like D drive, E drive, whatever burners you have. There is also an option for "Nero Image" or "Image Recorder" or something similar depending on the version you are using. Select "Image Recorder" and when you start the image creation process, it will ask you where you want to save it.

If the image creation goes well, try "burning image to disk", which is an option in the Nero SmartStart menu. If the image creation worked, but the image burning didn't, it is a burner/media issue.

OK, and 100ish files isn't too much. But lemme know how the image creation goes, and maybe we'll get some kinks worked out.

Oh, and a program I use that tends to burn EVERYTHING is Blindwrite. You'll only get a 30 day trial, and the burning process takes forever, but it is generally a sure thing. I've used BW to rip difficult-to-copy game images to my HD so I can play my games without inserting a disk. If it can do that for me, it might be able to do what you need if all else fails.

yeah the image creation worked i guess....I saved the file to my desktop as Image.nrg

I tried "burning image to disc" and then selected this Image file on my desktop, and tried to burn it, but it didnt work.

I tried using blindwrite and CopyToDVD. It still didnt work, but it seems to say that it may be a media type problem. So, I am going to get some DVD-R's and try those later. Here is the error log too that it made:

I have this same problem everytime I try to use Nero. I started using Alcohol 120% and it works fine.

Wow. Sounds like you've got a floor covered in coasters, then. Can you burn anything at all? Any other files burning? This is starting to sound more and more like drive failure, though I'd hate to think that's the case.

If other files burn, it might just be something with the files still. However, if NO files will burn, you might try flashing the drive with the latest firmware. That's about all I can think of now. Sounds like a pretty sucky situation as a whole if even DVD-Rs won't work and it'll make images but it won't burn.

Sorry.

I burnt a CD with music on it, and it worked, but DVD's are not working at all. I tried other files, and still getting same error. I have upgraded latest firmware already.
