So I signed up for a sharebuilder account through SECU. I don't know what the benefit of signing up through SECU is though, all I can tell is I can't use the promotional codes. But Sharebuilder.com seems like a cheap and convenient way to purchase stocks. It'll draft your account each month for X dollars, invest the money into the stocks you choose and only charges $4 per investment.Does this seem like a good plan or are their better deals out there?

seems like something you could do on your own?i.e. without the automatic draft?

its kinda like forced savings, but with the benefit of hopefully beating the interest rate of my money market.and how could buy stocks at less than $4 on my own?

Aparently choosing good stocks is a gift I dont have. I am not going back in to my sharebuilder account for the forseeable future. I too signed up through SECU and don't see the advantage of using them to get on to it either. It's not like the fees get reduced or anything.

what are some other investing websites. say i want to purchase one stock so that i can then purchase thru equiserve. do i just purchase the one share and then transfer it over to equiserve?

i was turned off to sharebuilder when i was constantly checking real-time rates....i am considering switching to a service designed for the more active traders

i have scottrade and love it.... its cheap, super easy to use... you can wire or echeck money to deposit to it... and they have local branches that you can do things at personally if you need to instead of sending money through the mail and all that jazz.THere are two branches locally, one towards durham and one on fall of the neuse near cookout.Oh, and referrals get 3 free trades, and so do those that were referred... so put Robert Taylor of garner as your referrer

yeah i also use scottrade. it is pretty good for only $7 a trade. I have found though that i am not able to purchase some mutual funds that i might like to purchase in the future. but if you arent worried about mutual funds then your fine. or they mght have the ones you want.
