So I'm watching Don't Be A Menace and the scene where Ashtre's father tells him to organize his Sega Genesis cartridges got me to thinking. Which race is more prone to own which of the three current consoles (Xbox, PS2, Gamecube)?Cause back during the days of SNES vs. Genesis it seemed that black people tended to own a Sega. Am I right or am I just being racist?

Which one is the cheapest?

This is a really weird thread. That said, the only people I knew that had a Genesis are Asian.

Hmmm. I guess its all just personal experience. As far as the cheapest goes I can't really see some poor black dude playing a Gamecube, white trash...maybe.

Most the guys that I meet at work (90% black, 75% high school ed. or less) have a PS2. It honestly seems like the PS2 is what everybody has. Even some of the guys at work that are white and living in a trailer have PS2's and no GC or X-Box. Seems like the smarter/richer/more educated people I know also throw in an X-Box and/or Gamecube.

well ps2 came out first, so perhaps they saved up and grabbed one and stuck with it for a while (since they cant just go trading it in and spending more cash). ps2 also had a more established amount of racing, fighting, and sports games which are what a lot of ppl play. the sheer quantity of games allows for more budget/best-of titles too i bet (again, just guesses cuz i hate my ps2).just a thought, dont know how true that is.

Im there with Nighthawk. Almost everyone i know at least has a ps2. And maybe and xbox or gc. But those seem to have been bought once the ps2 was acquired.

Back in the SNES and Genesis days, most black guys in my neighborhood had a Genesis. The major reason for this is the Genesis had Madden and other EA sports games before the SNES. Nintendo's more kid-friendly image didn't help much either, especially after the debacle with Mortal Kombat. I've noticed a lot more black people seem to be into fighting games than you might expect. However, the trend with EA sports almost definitely applied to white Genesis owners as well.I was a hardcore Nintendo fan, so I naturally owned the SNES. And since I had zero interest in sports games, it was a win-win situation. These days you're likely to see the same trends with console ownership with black people as you would with white people, meaning most own a PS2, some others own the Xbox, and even fewer own the Gamecube.

i had the Genesis and i liked it much more than my friend's SNES. and i am very, very white.

I'm white and I only knew one guy who had a Genesis. He was white, too. Everyone else had SNES. Of course, that guy got an SNES later, too... freakin Final Fantasy VI man.

genesis was most definately the "cooler" system. i always wanted one, but when i finally got it (like in middle school when 64, saturn, etc was out) i realized the games just didnt have the umph that SNES's did. good games, but just not that long lasting.

most of the gc players in sullivan smell bad...and are white just adding random personal evidence
