Easiest and quickest way to transfer files from desktop to new laptop?
USB?
No hub

crossover cable
setup one pc with an ip like 192.168.0.1
the other with 192.168.0.2
subnet mask 255.255.255.0 doesn't really matter as long as its the same

also, if both computers are winxp and you wait a bit it will give them both auto assigned addresses.
