11/30/2005 11:15:32 PM

12/1/2005 1:17:44 AM

12/1/2005 1:36:47 AM
I'm too lazy to PM people
12/1/2005 1:42:59 AM
hey maybe someone who knows anything about building your own cabinet could tell me if this looks like it's good:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6231430542&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1he said he'd sell the thing for 150 if someone could come pick it upit looks good to me - only needs to maybe add an arcade sized monitor
12/1/2005 3:33:59 AM
Contact this company.http://www.arcadegames4u.com/They are located right here in Raleigh. One of my friends works for them, and they do absolutely brilliant work.
12/1/2005 8:35:33 AM
kthxthey'd probably charge alot though
12/1/2005 12:47:40 PM
That's a pretty good deal on the one on ebay there and yes it would need a bigger monitor. If I wasn't planning on selling my house I'd buy it. I've been wanting to build my own for a few years now.
12/1/2005 1:16:09 PM
I thought it looked good, but I guess I have no way to get it to my place

12/1/2005 1:29:47 PM
what is noteworthy about that page
12/1/2005 2:28:43 PM
It has the dimensions of several different consoles.I've wanted to do something like that myself, using 1/2" particle board. But instead of MAME just mounting my playstation in it. (I have Midway's greatest hits)Then hacking a PS contoller to real arcade fire buttons etc.
12/1/2005 2:37:26 PM
interestingI'd rather have an authentic arcade-type feel with the joysticks and all that, thoughprobably PC powered
12/1/2005 2:55:01 PM
There are sources for all of that stuff, including repro decals. The buttons, joysticks, etc can all also be found. So if you hard wire it into acontroller that is hidden under the cabinet it should "feel" like the real thing.I collect pinballs, but there is plenty of sources out there for vids.A word of caution about buying a original machine. A lot of the early vids used amonitor type called "X-Y" which has not been manufactured in over 25 years.finding old parts is the biggest challenge.

I am way too stupid to build my ownhelp me plz
12/1/2005 3:03:42 PM

I put nearly 500 hours in my cabinet. You can hack shit together in a few days and get it working, but if you want something decent, its going to take a LOT of time and a LOT of money.
12/4/2005 8:53:19 PM
500 hours spread over how many days?yours looked really good, i wouldnt think it was that hard
12/4/2005 8:55:32 PM
spread over two years. i did a lot of research and different configurations with it before the final setup, which is what you saw.
12/4/2005 9:46:48 PM
help me make one plz
12/4/2005 9:47:25 PM
sold mine for $1500.making a new one from scratch next semester.
12/4/2005 10:18:33 PM
12/4/2005 10:24:07 PM
I know it's a longshot, but if anyone wants to help me build one, or wants to get rid of one relatively cheap, let me know
2/26/2006 9:14:31 AM
dudeif it's been months and you can't do it from scratch...buy a kit that comes with pre-cut wood and all the shit to do it.then design custom controls and get them from happ controlsthen build a computer and search google for mame frontends and what not and you're done.[Edited on February 26, 2006 at 10:34 AM. 2/26/2006 10:34:12 AM
how much does that costI don't even know where to begin
2/26/2006 10:47:09 AM
i'm about 80% done building a mame cabinet. i'll sell it to you for $800 if you want to finish it.left to finish are wiring the control pannel, painting, some plexi overlays, and installing the software on the computer.
2/26/2006 10:47:18 AM
someone should help me build one from scratch
3/7/2006 6:56:50 AM
or it would be ideal if someone just had one really cheap or free that they're trying to get rid of that doesn't work or somethingI know that happens so often
3/12/2006 9:28:04 PM
dude just go to the next auction in Winston Salem. I think it's in march, there was one feb 4th. Im pretty sure I told you about this via PM.They had working uprights selling for 30-50 bucks. Even decent games, most of the older ones in good shape went for under a hundred.
3/13/2006 12:46:00 AM
I guess I don't really have any way to transport them back unless someone helps me
3/13/2006 4:04:19 AM
look man, you've seriously got to have some friends, or make some friends that can either help you with tansport, help you with tools, help you with ideas, and just generally help if you can't do it on your own.that or pony up some cash for a full on custom cabinet that you want.nobody is going to just hand you something for 10 bucks that works perfectly and is exactly what you want.
3/13/2006 6:44:40 AM
not looking for something that works perfectlybroken cabinets are a good starting pointI just don't have the tools to build a cabinetit's just a pipe dream for now, really, because I'm in a kind of small apartmentbut I know that every once in a blue moon, someone will have an unworking cabinet that they would simply just like to get rid of, and that's what I'm hoping for for now until I can get to somewhere where I can actually construct a cabinet myself
3/13/2006 12:37:01 PM
my cabinet is basically what you are looking for. a cabinet that needs some finishing work.if my price is too high, make me an offer.
3/13/2006 12:48:56 PM
I'm still considering it definitelyI have a friend that owes me 1000+ dollars, so when he actually comes through with some portion of it, I'll hit you up
