We are loosing our oil changer in two weeks. If you have automotive experience come by and get an application.Pay starts out at $12 per turned hour with no certifications. ASE starts higher. The oil changer does, oil, brakes, flushes, tires, etc.If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
11/29/2005 4:02:54 PM
like.. backyard experience?
11/29/2005 4:04:09 PM
Hey Daryl...why don't you check my oil???
11/29/2005 4:04:28 PM
I think you know how to do that yourself Dan.
11/29/2005 4:07:15 PM
with being extremely lazy - what is the easiest way to get a replacement card?
11/29/2005 4:11:43 PM
Don't know. We are a service station, not part of the map and card part.
11/29/2005 4:14:51 PM
the one on avent ferry
11/29/2005 6:21:35 PM
yeah
11/29/2005 6:30:16 PM
paging all grease monkeys
11/29/2005 6:31:18 PM
paging all wal-mart qualified service techs, wait they would be overqualified to work there
11/29/2005 6:54:30 PM
haha, walmart qualified would not be hired at our shop. Ass. Besides me, the guy with the least exprience is 6 years ASE certified.[Edited on November 29, 2005 at 7:02 PM. Reason : wrong vowel]
11/29/2005 7:02:06 PM
is that the guy that's leaving?
11/29/2005 7:02:36 PM
where's this at?
11/29/2005 7:03:23 PM
no. I don't count the guy that is leaving. He has over a year of experience, but he only did the basic stuff. Brakes, oil, tires, flushes, crap like that.I hate how 69 always talks crap about my shop. I don't work there all that often (8 hours a week) due to school, but I still work there.[Edited on November 29, 2005 at 7:05 PM. Reason : Intersection of Gorman and Avent Ferry, beside Jax]
11/29/2005 7:05:15 PM
^ many friends with bad experiences there. two major rip offs that i know for a fact, such as replacing a starter and ignition switch, problem recurred the next day, i looked at it, and it was a corroded battery terminal that had obviously never been touched the day before, etc., etc., etc., not enough time to discuss everything right now, it may be different now, but as of last year, i would never reccomend that place to anyone, even if they had AAA they were better off paying to have it towed somewhere else.
11/29/2005 7:22:14 PM
who would replace a starter or ignition switch without first disconnecting the battery?
11/29/2005 7:24:24 PM
me, cuz im lazy like that and still get the job done.not really though
11/29/2005 8:28:47 PM
i started changing out my alternator once w/o disconnecting the batteryi got a big surprise when the end of my socket wrench touched the block
11/29/2005 8:29:53 PM
i throw in starters all the time without disconnecting the battery, adds a little excitement to a boring job, its like trying to play operation
12/1/2005 11:09:37 AM
12/1/2005 1:36:16 PM
That's funny, because I have done an assload of both. I disconnect the battery damn near all the time. Was a time when I just didn't give a fuck, and I did plenty of swaps without ever disconnecting the battery. An arc here and there never hurt anybody...riiiiight. I decided to ditch the shitty attitude and take care of things the right way.
12/1/2005 7:28:27 PM
you have to be retarded to not disconnect the battery.
12/1/2005 8:26:23 PM
i must be retarded then, if its impossible to get wrench on the terminals without disconnecting, i'll unhook battery, if i feel like letting the lift back down
12/1/2005 11:02:30 PM
any tech worth a shit knows to disconnect the battery first when doing this type of work, and obviously you arent one of them.the only time i might consider not disconnecting the battery is when I was doing something like an alternator on a OBDII car that also has to be inspected, so that I dont have to deal with any unset readiness codes.

AAA here fucked my friend. his car was over heating and losing power. i told him its sounded like a head gasket with the loss of power and heat. he took it in and told AAA he thought thats what it was. they told him 1600 bucks to fix it. AAA claimed there was antifreeze in the oil. i told him that was to much and gave him the number of a guy i knew 10 min up the road. he took the car and my friend drove it there! head gasket was fine if he drove it and it was fine. the other guy i knew found the problem being a fubard radiator. NO antifreeze in the oil, power, took 10 min to overheat, and no white smoke. basicly AAA lied to him and tired to charge him 1600 bucks. they never checked the oil, and they misdiagnosed. bottom like it was 250 bucks instead of 1600 and it wasnt even in the ball park to the same problem. fuck AAA for their lieing and taking advantage. we went to AAA and rasied hell with them and their bullshit wanna be techs
12/2/2005 12:17:01 AM
^ MaximaDrvr made it seem like i was the only one on the planet that knew of the shadyness going on down there
12/2/2005 7:54:18 AM
That was Aaron that diagnose the car. He was fired. I remember the hell it raised in the shop.
12/2/2005 8:05:30 AM
Also, everybody there right now is an ASE certified Master Tech. I don't think that is a wannabe.
12/2/2005 10:57:48 AM
ase certifications are just a money scam for the people doing the certifications, it doesnt tell me shit about what they know about cars. if i ever let anyone besides myself touch my truck, it would be someone whos had years of experience, ase certified or not, much more so than someone fresh off the fucking boat from tech school who is certified to be able to read books and has never been under the hood of a vehicle and thinks they are the goddamn best thing since sliced bread.

jesus christ people can't take sarcasm and joking around here
12/2/2005 6:32:16 PM
actually it sounds like you might be sorry you fucked up again, but thats too bad cause no there is no chance at redeeming yourself.go back to working at shitty service station x, watching the stoplights change, hoping some old lady will tip you for pumping her gas, or doing fleet service on shitty ass, hopelessly ragged out NCSU vehicles with the other hamfisted morons who cant hack it anywhere else in the business. either way, stop posting here cause youve fucked yourself too many times.
12/2/2005 8:48:32 PM
^haha good pointbut on the other hand, for some people, $12 an hour is pretty decent pay for part-time college job, enough to pay the rent and buy a couple of 40's a day. i mean not eveyone can be paddlin astos on ebay maikin 2 g's a time
12/3/2005 3:36:14 AM
^^ holy shit the almighty god of not knowing what the fuck he's talking about is trying to call me out, maybe i should go home and cry, and cancel my wolf web account. fuck off, i'm not making a career out of being a fucking grease monkey, its something i'm good at, and it pays damn good while i'm in college, thats why i'm going into engineering, because i don't want to make a career out of turning wrenches like you hopeless ass mother fuckers
12/3/2005 2:20:47 PM
great, just what the world needs... another engineer who's clueless about actually working on things.
12/3/2005 2:24:31 PM
12/3/2005 2:26:38 PM
12/3/2005 2:34:02 PM
wow, i guess you won
12/3/2005 2:39:11 PM
i guess you suck, your homoness just goes on too much.
12/3/2005 2:40:57 PM
so when does pussyprimers show come on tv? since he knows more about vehicles than anyone else in the world, and hes making more money than bill gates doing it. are you gonna be his sidekick that carries around the best tools money can buy for him? like his personal caddy?
12/3/2005 2:45:57 PM
who claims he makes money? u generalized all wrench turners by trying to make your self look better. just because you may be an engineer it doesnt make you any more important that a garbage man. you just have they typical know it all prick attitude. when you make stupid claims and its proof u dont know shit. dont ask for specifics, just go look back at all your past posts. i dont even know joel but i respect his knowledge as he knows what he is doing. so go playwith your self some where else ya self important fuck.
12/3/2005 3:08:08 PM
i'll be damned if i'll let some kid on the internet that has probably never been under the hood of a vehicle before call me out on not being experienced. i was working on diesel trucks before i was in high school, not to mention doing contracting work with my grandfather. i am a licensed gc in nc and in addition to working at my full time job at the shop, do a shitload of contracting, mostly electrical and remodeling work when i am not at the shop, in addition to being a full time student, so trying to say i am a book smart engineer that doesnt get his hands dirty and has no mechanical ability is just another way of proving your stupidity in assuming all engineers are the same. i have been in the auto repair setting for years, and there are few people that aspire to do anything else. there are damn fewmechanical trades out there that i couldn't walk right on the job and perform flawlessly, but that doesnt mean i'm gonna quit there. my personal interest is chemical engineering, and i would quit a job if i got stuck in an office all day, i would be out in the plant all the time. both co-ops i have done, i was right out there with the mantenance workers, solving problems on the spot as they tried to correct process issues, instead of waiting days for it to show up on my desk and have a meeting about it with people that havent seen that part of the plant in years, if it wasn't between the parking lot and their office.[Edited on December 3, 2005 at 3:21 PM. Reason : done arguing about this shit]
12/3/2005 3:19:53 PM
haha, you can qualify yourself all you want to. unfortunately, the majority of the stuff you post around here says otherwise. the fact that you say you supposedly have so much experience makes it even worse that you spew such misinformation on a variety of subjects. not hatin, just the truth.
12/3/2005 3:45:45 PM
exactly
12/3/2005 4:27:54 PM
daryl did a guy named buddy just start over there? he used to be store manager at cary ntb and he called me the other day asking if i wanted to come work for him, i think he said at AAA.
12/3/2005 6:34:54 PM
Not at my store. The Cary store just opened, so he could be over there.
