Justin Burke just lead his HS team to the state championship game in Kentucky...he's looking pretty nasty.... http://www.lexingtoncatholic.com/sports/football/2005%20Individual%20Offense.htm62 tds and only 4 ints...that's pretty strong
11/28/2005 10:53:18 AM
I pray we dont try and stick to stone being the starter
11/28/2005 11:06:03 AM
Now that we are Bowl eligable it will make a huge difference towards next year. The extra practice is almost like having an extra spring practice. The young guys will get tons of reps and it will be a huge help next season.I'm not saying that Marcus will be great next year but we have to consider him the starter of the future until Burke or someone else proves they can do better.Back on topic, Its great to see him doing so well even though his ranks are falling...haha...He would be a 5* by now if he had commited to UNC
11/28/2005 11:11:47 AM
5 ints
11/28/2005 11:12:27 AM
62 TD's and 4-5 INT's is bigtime. And they say his strength is his smarts. Hopefully he can come in here and practice well.
11/28/2005 11:49:25 AM
i think the guys that ever got an INT off of him should keep the ball with a tag on it
11/28/2005 11:50:25 AM
Is he graduating early?
11/28/2005 11:51:12 AM
he's also got 461 yds rushing with 5 touchdowns and 1 catch for a touchdown

11/28/2005 12:00:48 PM
i'm fine with stone starting next season. burke will probably be better, talent wise, but lets give him some time to get into a routine and get the hang of the offense. stone has proven he can be adequate anyway.
11/28/2005 12:29:18 PM
Yea, if he were graduating early there would be a good shot that he'd be the man.As it is, I hope Trestman will develope our O towards our strengths and not try and force guys to play a system that they can't.And lets face it, if we don't develop an OL then our O will be shitty again next year only we will lose Manny and Mario on D and a DB corp. that looks pretty lame.I'll go out on a limb here and say that if the same trend continues with Amato not fixing things in the offseason and not getting rid of some of the shitty coaches we have (Barry, etc) then we'll have a worse year next year.
11/28/2005 12:30:10 PM
if the o-line is as bad next year as it was this year, there's no excuse. the whole team should be dissolved.
11/28/2005 12:32:03 PM
11/28/2005 1:43:51 PM
burke wanted to come in here early, but he needs one fine arts credit and its not offered until the spring. So he's got to stay there just for one friggin class...
11/28/2005 1:49:18 PM
^thats fucked up if its true...he should be able to work something out if thats the case. and did anyone else see that article on espn about him? There was just a blurb about how he's about to set the record for TD passes in a season in KY. Right now he's 3rd all time, but only needs a few more for the record (sorry if it was already mentioned I didnt read carefully).
11/28/2005 1:54:01 PM
I'm sure he could finish that "fine art" credit here or at a local community college in Raleigh.[Edited on November 28, 2005 at 2:24 PM. Reason : actually, i guess he has to graduate b4 he can come here]
11/28/2005 2:24:33 PM
yeah, graduation needed first
11/28/2005 2:29:27 PM
11/28/2005 2:54:27 PM
^ and i'm glad for Stephen Tulloch as an LB veteran.for some reason i thought he was leaving this year.
11/28/2005 2:57:54 PM
Yeah Hoyte is the only linebacker we lose. I think Pat Lowery has really stepped up this year and will play big next year as a senior. Rumph isn't bad and is improving.

11/28/2005 7:29:47 PM
BC and UNC ate AJ Davis for lunch. Hate to say it, but those two teams walked by him.DaJuan, Bobby, Jimmie, Miguel, J.C. and Levin are going to be very good for us back there next year.
11/28/2005 7:40:50 PM
^^I dont know what you're trying to say there. Dajuan Morgan is VERY good for a freshman, and he is NOT a cornerback. He plays the same position basically that Andre Maddox played...roverback. His job is to cover for the mistakes made by the corners, and he does a damn good job of it. Sutton and Holloman are n00bs, thats it. Holloman is better than sutton I'd say, but the way AJ Davis has played this year, they are all on about the same level. AJ is actually a really good corner when he isnt being stupid and trying to jam receivers 10 yards down field that are twice his size. Problem is that he does this over 50 percent of the time. If they can get their shit together in the offseason, next year could be a very good year.[Edited on November 28, 2005 at 7:44 PM. Reason : ]
11/28/2005 7:44:26 PM
they are gonna look real bad without a pass rush next year.We have to hope that somebody steps up bigtime at DE.And no, Mario ain't coming back.
11/28/2005 7:48:03 PM
Don't forget Bobby Washington. He's got potential.
11/28/2005 7:49:09 PM
^dont get your hopes up with Bobby. Safety isnt our problem...its the corners.
11/28/2005 7:51:46 PM
11/28/2005 7:56:01 PM
We're loaded at DT if McCargo comes back. Maybe we could play some sets with him at DE since he's pretty quick for a fat guy.I hope Willie Young is as good as advertised.
11/28/2005 8:02:17 PM
Our line will be fine Pass rush wont be as good, but rushing D should be really good. Maybe since the ends wont be as skilled of pass rushers they can focus a little more on the run. That way we can play some of the rovers in coverage to help the pass coverage. I actually think it will work out for us even losing 4 huge names from the D.
11/28/2005 8:12:54 PM
Yeah Willie Young is supposed to be pretty good...lean and fast as shit...kinda like Manny.
11/28/2005 8:13:44 PM
11/28/2005 8:33:20 PM
I don't think there will be much hype at all. Hopefully that translates into less pressure on the players and they go out and play football like they can. I still don't see why some of you think we will not be that good on Defense. We will be fine, 7 starters will be back, 8 if you can count all 3 tackles we play. Bottom line: We need a QB to play worth a damn and a DECENT line to block for him to do so.
11/28/2005 8:38:57 PM
^^that made little to no sense at all and we are all dumber for reading that. By rovers in coverage I mean playing them in a zone to help the pass coverage....like they do now...just more often if we can stop the run early. We can still play man to man with our speed, and we will still have a decent pass rush. Its not going to be as bad as you make it sound.[Edited on November 28, 2005 at 8:41 PM. Reason : ]

We gotta get this guy for obvious reasons. He's got good genes [Edited on November 28, 2005 at 8:54 PM. Reason : .]
11/28/2005 8:54:28 PM
^^well thats what I'm saying so your bashing of my statement was retarded. I dont like us playing zone, I think it leaves too much room for error and its easier to give up little chunks of yardage more often, and opens you up more to the big play...which we are already very susceptable to. I think zone only helps with rushing D, which we shouldnt need help with. Its six of one, half dozen the other when it comes to zone vs. man in pass defense.

Yeah, smart teams will pick apart a zone like nobody's business, and it doesnt even take good athletes to do it. At least with man coverage you put it in the hands of the player to beat you and there is a lot more control over the play. The only time you get into trouble is when you are way overmatched...which doesnt happen to us often except against AJ, but thats just because he's a dumbass, not becaues of his skill...or when they break big runs because nobody is waiting for them in the secondary. Also, our safeties have always been known for their great run support..like Andre Maddox. Heath and Scott have done a good job this year covering for mistakes this year in the run. I just feel like it would be stupid to change our defensive scheme completely just because our pass rush wont be as good. Plus, with Tank, McCargo, and Demario in the middle, we'll still be a decent D-line, and they're good enough to put pressure on the QB by themselves. Plus we will still blitz a lot. No need to change, period.[Edited on November 28, 2005 at 9:39 PM. Reason : ]
