I like the first one better... the style on the sleeves
11/28/2005 12:03:32 AM
i dont really care about the difference between how they look but im just trying to get an opinion on which might work better
11/28/2005 12:04:49 AM
^^that's funny, I like the second one for the exact opposite reason. But I have no clue about functionality.

I don't know much about them... but Columbia is definitely a reliable brand. The second one looks like it would be warmer from the picture. Another big difference is the hood... the first one seems highly integrated into the jacket, whereas the second one is far different in its alignment with the top of the zipper. If you're just going to be in NC, I think the first one would be fine... it's not too bulky, but should still be warm... and the hood seems functionable enough to double as protection from the wind and rain (conditions like today... ). What you intend to use it for and the fit you think would best work for you should make your decision for you. REI, Kohls, and Dicks usually have a decent selection of Columbia jackets (maybe even Outdoor Provision)... you might be able to try them on there.

yes ride the bus
11/28/2005 12:15:05 AM
The first one is better for committing crimes (more mobility), the second one looks warmer.
11/28/2005 12:24:11 AM
They both suck.
11/28/2005 12:25:03 AM
^^^^thanks, ive tried them on so i know how big the large and XL sizes arebased on your comment im thinking the first one will be better for me because i need something less bulky and still warm enough for when i got snowboarding
11/28/2005 12:29:46 AM
"go snowboarding"Is that slang for "run coke"?

definitely second HH for quality. north face is excellent but over rated imho. i'd check out REI - their store brand is just fine and cheaper. depends on what you are going to be doing with the jacket. if it is just for skiing/boarding in NC, honestly, i wouldn't get either one. i find that most people overdress. when i ski in NC, i wear a turtleneck, a fleece jacket and then maybe a shell on top. when i ski in the northeast, west, or perhaps on a COLD night in nc, i'll pull out my big fluffy ski jackets. if it is above 30... you don't need much at all. if you are going west or this is a ski + winter everyday, either is fine really. but again, check out the rei brand.

I third the Helly Hansen reco.it's not a status brand (yet) so you're actually paying for the quality, not the name.
11/28/2005 11:20:05 AM
you'd look good in this one:
11/28/2005 11:25:34 AM
^^ I agree. Helly Hansen is not as flashy as Columbia or North Face can be and their stuff is really nice![Edited on November 28, 2005 at 11:26 AM. Reason : .]
