the dr is one of my favorite places... the north side of the island is where a lot of tourist beaches are, you'll find german, french, british, etc. tourists therebasically, you don't even have to make a reservation, you can just show up at the airport and tour around ina cab until you find a place you like to staywhooops, i can speak the language though, so i didn't have trouble finding a cheap place to stay while there (plus I was there on bizness)on the topic of shit to do while there:golf is too hot, sightseeing is too hot, drinking is always good, get ready for some rum and beach actionsisua is a beach (resort area) on teh north sid e of the island that lots of locals enjoyif you're able to handle a room with wall-unit ac, then you'll be stylin. o/w go with a reservation and pay extra for that neglible peace of mind about a place to staynow if you're going to the southern/eastern coast (which is almost entirely rocky), then Teeth of the Dog resort (I can't remember the official name of the place righ tnow) is a good search string. thas some big bux to stay there thoughand btw, be sure to take a credit card with you

my family and I stayed at the Allegro, which might be more than you're willing to paybut check out places like Cheap Tickets or Expediathe "off-season" is from like April to June, I think... b/c Europeans don't vacation then... but in July the rates start to climb again... and they're high December-March too b/c of Europeansalso, it might be wise to pay a little more each night to stay in a place that's all-inclusive... b/c at least once you get there, you don't have to worry about buying food or drinks[Edited on November 28, 2005 at 12:29 AM.
