what kinda figures would one be looking at to build multi unit townhomes, such as the new ones on tryon, in camden crossing, etc?ive spoken with one contractor that guessed it to be around $50-70/sq ft.anyone have any connections with this kinda thing?

i would imagine before you could really get a good estimate, you would have to have an good idea of the number of units you wish to build. which is prolly based on how much they cost so...

It also depends on what kind of grading and shit they have to do to the lots to get it ready and what materials its built of.

The price to build is totally dependent on your contractors, your suppliers, and the cost of the properity. You'll get a better dollar per square foot price from your contractors if you're building multiple buildings. I'd say that you'd have to build something really big or multiple buildings to get anywhere near the $50-70/sq ft range. Quality of construction is also a factor. Go take a look around some job sites and note the difference in the quality of work between the different contractors. The guy who does the best work will not be the cheapest. I'm willing to bet that the actual cost of construction will be closer to $90-100/sq ft depending the quality of the interior finishing and the structural materials used.

if you dont want too many details, and you dont want to get too specific, then you obviously dont care if the number is accurate, why dont you randomly pick one and move on?
