<typical 'do you have the latest drivers/directx version installed?' question>

Yeah, don't just trust windows update to get your latest video drivers... and you should probably try reinstalling your video drivers just in case anyways. Check windows update for DX9 updates and such too of course.

i dx 9c the game comes with a computer analysis tool that said everything passedbut ill check windows update and reinstall the vid driver

I'd actually download the correct driver from the manuf. website before I trusted windows update.

download the drivers from nvidia or evga, shouldn't matter. install them. if it doesn't work, try checking the message boards for the company who made the game. see if people are having similar problems. you could also try emailing tech support for whoever makes BF2 if problems persist.

If/when you get the game working, I'd like to know how you like it.I like the battlefield type gamesI like starwars gamesI'm pretty sure I'd like this game.

^^ I got this game even after being in the beta for about a month. To be honest, I do not enjoy it as much as the first Battlefront. The pace is in such overdrive that it feels faster than any of the Unreal games. (This is a big turnoff for me.) Also, some of the maps are so small but can accommodate so many people that you absolutely can't help but TK like mad. (i.e. Jabba's Palace) I just feel like the framerate is not very smooth at all, and things jump around so quickly that it's hard to enjoy. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy fast-paced games like Tribes, but Battlefront 2 just comes across as very choppy to me.On the other hand, I do immensely enjoy the all-hero battles. I can't be sure, but the only map I've seen this take place on is Mos Eisley. If there were servers running all-hero battles on all maps, I'd be playing this game a lot more. The space battles are good, but still feel like they need more polishing. If only they were more in the vein of X-Wing and TIE Fighter... ah well.

this fucking game isnt workingi cant get it to workdoes anyone have any suggestions?it gets halfway through loading and stops and the game dissappears

uninstall the game, remove all traces of it, reinstall the game.also, make sure you have the latest sound and video drivers downloaded, then uninstall your sound card, and video card in the device manager. then, restart and reinstall them using the drivers you've downloaded.if that doesn't work, and tech support from lucas arts or whoever doesn't have any fixes, you could also try reformatting and reinstalling windows. but at that point you may just be stuck waiting for lucas or whoever to send out a patch. there could be compatability issues with one or more of your hardware components, or windows could just have something corrupted somewhere.anyways, you can rule out windows having something corrupted by reinstalling/reformatting (drastic I know) but if this is a hardware compatability issue, it should be documented by now on the message boards if nowhere else. hopefully you can find out and find a work around without having to resort to wiping and reinstalling everything.obviously if you DO try reformatting and reinstalling from everything and it still doesn't work, it's most likely a compatability issue requiring either a driver update (not likely) or a patch somewhere down the line. If you get to this point, then you would have done a lot of work for no gain. This is exactly why you should check out the official tech support message boards for the game, and contact lucas arts.[Edited on November 28, 2005 at 5:05 PM. Reason : ]

well i called tech support and apparently my processor drivers need updating since they are old andthen i found via my roommates help some websites citing the exact problem that happens on dual core processors all you have to do is go into device manager and select the affinity of the battlefront 2 program to just one coreits the game trying to use both that makes it crashso the problem is fixed finnally
11/28/2005 6:18:19 PM
heh yay, dual core processors have added a whole new question to throw in to the typical "drivers? virus? pathces?' mix
11/28/2005 7:28:03 PM
