The question is for the guys out there, and I guess for the girls who know and have experience.....What is the difference when a guy tells a girl she is HOT, CUTE, or PRETTY? What do they mean when they say any of these to a girl.......which one is a better compliment?Let's see if we can get some real good truthful answers!

hot > cute > pretty

hot= nice body AND nice facecute= decent body/decent facepretty= decent face
11/23/2005 4:14:59 PM
i think i link cuteness with more of a uniqueness. so, usually i go for the cute ones.

You screw HOT girls, marry CUTE girls and don't do anything with PRETTY girls cause pretty means they are probably fat with an alright face.[Edited on November 23, 2005 at 4:18 PM. Reason : ]

cute: Like an adorable little puppy that you want to pat on the head. Also implies a certain degree of innocence. pretty: An attractive girl you'd be proud to have your photo taken with or take to a formalhot: Usually when guys use this term, they simply want sexual relations or bragging rights.

^^ NOcute > pretty

I don't like these complex classifications. I break it down into to categories:"Girls I would fuck" and "Girls I wouldn't fuck"
11/23/2005 5:08:56 PM
if i say a girl is hot i generally think she's out of my league gorgeous. cute or pretty are interchangeable. they mean she's got some admirable features and someone i may consider asking out. also someone i could probably have meaningful conversations with (unlike most "hot" girls) which i think would be a better compliment. but i'm sure everyone's probably got a different opinion on it, thats mine.
11/23/2005 5:10:46 PM
there is a 4th one also:beautifulthe easiest way is to name actresses or celebrities.beautiful: jennifer connelly, nelly furtado, anastaciahot: jennifer garner, jennifer aniston, jordan, christina aguillera, kelly clarkson, shakirapretty: jessica albacute: don't know any celebrities who are cute. cute girls don't become celebs!guys fill in!

Hot > cute/pretty In my opinion cute and pretty mean about the same thing. I here more people using cute. It's a gentlemen's way of saying a girl is attractive.Cute/pretty only compliments the girl's face. Hot describes the face and the body in a way that is sexually appealing.

The difference between cute and pretty is around four beers, between pretty and hot another four beers.

Hot is definitely more superficial than cute. Cute = girlfriend material.Pretty is insincere. Maybe even charitable.[Edited on November 23, 2005 at 5:55 PM. Reason : e]

shoes are cutecute isn't a compliment in my book, its a nice way of saying "not ugly"beautiful = good looking with a nice personalityhot = superficial as others have said. very attractive but not a whole lot happening upstairs and lacking in personalityi think these "classifications" take personality into account, if you don't know their personality then you just assume based on how they look and act and if you get to know them better you can change how you describe them
11/23/2005 6:58:43 PM
i don't think cute is an insulti have been called "cute" all my lifeand if someone thought i was ugly i'd expect they probably wouldn't comment on the way i looked at all.beautiful to me means they are, well, beautiful... prettier than your average girl.
11/23/2005 7:01:56 PM
^^ that's what you think, but i don't think most people think like that.consider this scenario:you see a "hot" porn-star look-alike walking down the street everyday.then one day you find out she is a professor/scientist/doctor...are you going to stop calling her hot and start calling her "beautiful"?i wouldn't, and i don't think most guys would either.hot describes how much guys want to bang her, has nothing to do with personality.true, all the famous hot people might be air-heads, but there are thousands who are not air-heads (and so they chose to do something meaningful with their lives, and that's why they are not celebs).[Edited on November 23, 2005 at 7:07 PM. I usually associate cuteness with more childlike qualities. Pretty is something more befitting of an older looking beautiful person. As for hotness, the opinions stated above sound just about right.
11/23/2005 8:01:12 PM
I dont think either one can really be "better" ... I have dated girls that I thought were hot, cute, and pretty all in one, just depended on the day. I would try to find out what the guy means by having a more indepth conversation that gets further than looks. G'luck
11/23/2005 8:07:20 PM
11/23/2005 8:11:48 PM
there's also the "hot enough so i'd hit it, but still not tell anybody"
11/23/2005 8:20:38 PM
yeah, that category does existbut i stay away from those.
11/23/2005 8:24:41 PM
cute is infinitely better than either hot or pretty, with pretty coming in seconda girl who's hot gets boring after a while
11/23/2005 8:50:54 PM
kelly clarkson is hot?i think we can all agree that hot is just a term of lustcute is attractive. pretty is cuter than cutebeautiful is the greatest compliment, means extremly cute possibly hot and maybe a great personality alsohot<cute/pretty<beautiful
11/23/2005 8:55:37 PM
^ good explanation...i approve
11/23/2005 9:14:28 PM
personally, i go for cute girls
11/23/2005 9:29:31 PM
god i am so glad i don't have to worry about any of this
11/23/2005 9:54:44 PM
i agree with the following in this thread:hot = all sexual, we arent saying they are airheads or otherwise. variety of looks. similar to sexy.beautiful/gorgeous = very good looking, but not in a slutty way. classic beauty.cute = good looking in an innocent, maybe even girl-next door kinda way.pretty = generic good looking term. when used for people you like (your gf), it is just a generic way of saying "i find you attractive or above average." it doubles as a way to be polite for someone who may be alright/average, but you dont wanna say that to their significant other/parent/etc (maybe even slightly meh, but if she's ugly you just agree with whatever they say, nod your head, and/or dont say anything).
11/23/2005 10:48:38 PM
i think a girl should strive to be called beautifuland itd be nice if they said it honestlywithout the woman first going "i feel ugly today"yahaha if im ugly and my bf thinks so id want to knownothing is better than the truth]
11/23/2005 10:54:37 PM
so according to the majority who posted on this topic....since hot girls are sexually appealing, she is not the girl a guy would want to marry?!?!I mean a girl can be hot and sexy, yet not slutty......
11/24/2005 12:27:44 AM
yeah. but not likelyhot - fuck hercute - fuck her if you're willing to date herpretty - fuck her if you're willing to marry herugly - fuck her, just don't tell anybodythat's my rule of 4

cute is a good word for a variety of reasons. Two visually identical girls, both less than hot.One is evil. the other is your best friend and everyone loves to be around her.The evil girl is an ugly bitch and the good one is cute. every guy on here has called a girl they wouldn't bwn cute because the person in question was someone they didn't want to hurt or couldn't let themselves classify with the evil bitch.
11/24/2005 10:54:14 PM
See, this thread is surprising me, because most people I know never use "pretty" to describe a girl. It doesn't really seem like a word for this generation. If I've ever used it, it was probably only out of politesse because I felt dishonest saying anything with meaning."Hot" is purely a sexual thing; most folks I know use it only two ways:1) To describe someone they'd nail without actually liking,2) To describe a girl they like who has gone out of their way to be alluring for an occasion (again, temporary)"Cute" implies, if not innocence, at least real datability, thus combining attractiveness with personality; it would be my base compliment of choice, except so many triflin' bitches take it as an insult. "Oh, I'm cute but not hot? I'm cute but not beautiful?" Goddamn, you people are stupid."Beautiful" is really not something to be thrown around; it's like "cute" to the extreme, so I when I see it used I generally suspect that the person using it is lying unless I know for a fact they're really into the target.Of course, it's not like I've ever used these in practice, so there's no point to my having mentioned them, except I'm too bored not to.
11/25/2005 12:31:57 AM
so does gorgeous really mean gorgeous or is it another 'code word'?
11/25/2005 1:12:48 AM
hot = i would fuck them and dont care about personalitycute = they look good and have the personality to carry it pretty = they look good
11/25/2005 1:24:47 AM
i like beautifulthat would be the best complimentbut i never hear it without first asking for itso who careshot seems superficial and shallowcute seems like a pat on the head "uh huh ok honey youre attractive now go make me lunch"pretty seems like giving an ugly mutt a treat filled with hopebut beautiful is unmistakeable and used carefully, when meant as an honest opinionoye
11/25/2005 1:26:48 AM
I'm inclined to agree with the one that everybody mocks all the time.Cute isn't a pat on the head unless it's said in a patronizing way. Although...now that I think about it, I don't know that I'd ever call anyone cute, I'd just refer to them as being such. So maybe I need to rethink this whole system.
11/25/2005 1:32:38 AM
cute can go many waysif the guy is sincere and rarely is a guy sincere, then he'll be using it in the form of innocenceor referring to his gf if he is...actually attached to herif the fucker is just with the chick to bang her he may consider her hotif the fuckhead is trying to excuse his reasoning for fucking her he may say she is prettybut beauty entails that she has everything, personality, compatibility, beauty, intelligence, all rolled into onea rare findfuck this noise
