Awwww, someone's still pissy that the Spartans knocked Duke out of the tourney last year.

i don't think it's that...it's the fact that michigan state sucks and is vastly overrated right now...that's the worst loss i've seen for a reputable program since davidson blew out unc

Eh, I'd put it on the same level as the Santa Clara-UNC game last year. Opening game on the road against a program that's pulled upsets before and would be happy to do it again. If they continue to play that way in the tourney, then it'll be time to talk.

^ No way. UNC didn't have their floor general and it was a close game. No Top 5 team, with or without their staring PG, should go on the road and get BLOWN OUT OF THE BUILDING by a team like that. Unless they VASTLY improve Maui isn't going to be pretty. If I'm not mistaken they get the easy first game against DII Chaminade though...

No, they shouldn't, and that's why preseason rankings are total bullshit. But I still don't think one loss is a harbinger of doom for Michigan State this year, or even for this tournament. And yes, they do have the opener against Chaminade. And the Santa Clara game wasn't even that close--the Broncos led by 19 with 4 minutes left, and ended up winning by 11. I don't care if you are missing your starting PG, you do not lose to a WCC team that isn't named "Gonzaga" like that if you're ranked #4 in the country.[Edited on November 21, 2005 at 9:27 AM.
