me and my friends this weekend all agreed it needs to be that Wolfpack In the House song that was used for wrestling by NWO...it would get everyone pumped a lot more than that "get ready for this" crap...I don't care if it's been done before, it still would be a lot better. that other song should be playing right as they are meeting on the court for tipoff or something to get everyone clapping

how about we just stop with all the intro songs unless the band is going to play it. It is obvious that the athletics department sucks at life and cant pick good intro songs to save their lives. I like playing the fight song before tipoff with the clapping and all...as long as during ACC games the fans get into it as soon as it ends. That could turn into something good.

Our marketing/athletic department is ran by a bunch of morons

If I ever decide to run for the position, there's a whole lot of things I'd do.

1) First and foremost, gather up all of the "Wolfpack In The House (WITH)" stickers and burn them. Give fines to anyone with it on their car
2) Change "NC State" back to "State" on the jerseys. We haven't been good since we've changed it, and we're a tradition-rich program who needs consistency
3) Change the "Block S" logo at midcourt to Tuffy
4) Get rid of corny intros. Just do the damn fight song.
5) Make sure NC State fans actually KNOW the fight song (Either by posting lyrics for a few years)... more importantly, know the fight song is most definetely NOT "The Red and White from State"...which most people think is the fight song
6) Bring back all Reynolds traditions (We've done well with the newspaper reading during introductions and the "Fast Fight".... problem is the students don't know what the "Fast Fight" is or why they're doing it.) Bring back the damn crowd meter also... haha
7) Fire Lee Fowler... if I had the power

The block S is consistent with a lot of the older traditions at NC State - check it out on the Old Fieldhouse that's between Syme and the chiller/steam plant.

And by the way, if you actually *know* the fight song and *sing* the fight song, you get nasty comments from the lazy fans behind you who are also bitching about you standing up, as I learned Friday night.

The block S isn't my #1 thing.... but I definetely like Tuffy there. Tuffy is quite simply the best logo NCSU has.

I actually really like VT's "Enter Sandman". One of the best entrances in the nation IMO

Hell, I looooved NC State's "Bodies" for football. It was awesome... got the crowd pumped... and was very very unique. We should have stuck with it and made it ours.

Then we switched to Boom... which about every team in America uses...the song sucks, it doesn't pump you up, and it's cheesy. Either go back to bodies and stick with it, find something awesome and unique and stick with it, or just do the dang fight song. This switching back and forth sucks. It keeps getting worse and worse, and I think with "Bodies" we could have really become known for that entrance (Like VT is for Enter Sandman)


In basketball... I dunno. The ACC is a basketball Mecca...and NC State helped build that. No need for glitter and glam. Just do intros with the band....

How great would that be at the beginning of a basketball game to get the crowd fired up. Everyone in the entire arena just starts jumping around to get into a pumped up mood

the zombie song is called Zombie Nation by Kernkraft 400. it started in Europe for soccer games when they scored goals, then it moved onto hockey (which seems fitting since many of my old teammates played soccer), and now it's moved onto other sports. i first heard the song many a year ago (i'm pretty sure i was still in high school at the time) at a Charlotte Checkers game after they scored a goal. i was like holy crap that's awesome when i first witnessed it.

Wake actually uses that one at the opening of their basketball games (Zombie Nation typically shows up during the second half). And yeah, it's pretty cool.

I prefer Wake's band pieces, too--their fight song is one of my favorites, and the changing-tempo clapping bit that leads up to tipoff is a tight way to open it up.

When Fox was here, we used "NCSU" as the official designation of the university to stress the "U" part and get away from the "State College" reputation.

When the state started having budget difficulties and cutting educational funding, we switched to using "NC State" to emphasize that we were dedicated to the state.

It's all a bunch of marketing bullshit.

Ma Fox's reign here helped to strictly inforce the NC STate designation over NCSU. I was a student the entire time she was here and I remember the use of NCST for all media related activities when I was in college. Before she got here the university started making such marketing moves such as the new NC STate logos that appear on letter headers and other official document and the official university flag.
