11/20/2005 3:37:39 PM

Just went to Best Buy and got some Maxell spray-on cd repair stuff to try it out. It's worked great on all the fine scratches that come from touching it with cotton products and breathing on it.moderately well against the deeper kind of scratches you get from touching it with your bare hands.
11/20/2005 6:32:31 PM
I'M GUESSING THAT TOOTHPASTE WOULD ALSO DO THE TRICK
11/20/2005 6:37:11 PM
^ works on CDs
11/20/2005 6:39:42 PM
YES, YES IT DOES.
11/20/2005 6:42:43 PM
looks to me like that ipod was just ran through a spiderweb and then cleaned off..
11/20/2005 7:05:12 PM
thats what i thought. i can webbage hanging of the side. besides the final ipod they are using the stuff on is not scratched up hardly at all.
11/20/2005 7:07:42 PM
The "webbing" is just random fibers. And I just saw it work on scratches just like thatBEFORE MY VERY EYES
11/20/2005 7:35:25 PM
I'm glad I'm not the only other person that knows about the toothpaste to CDs trick. I explained it to someone on here and they thought I was fucking bonkers.[Edited on November 20, 2005 at 7:47 PM. Reason : .]
11/20/2005 7:47:14 PM
so you put toothpaste on the CD and wipe it off with a cloth or what?
11/21/2005 12:00:00 AM
toothpaste is a mild abrasive that will smooth out the scratches edges.
11/21/2005 12:19:40 AM
the click wheel on my Mini is looking pretty rough... would it work for that too?
11/21/2005 9:36:15 AM
http://www.theinvisibleshield.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=9get one after you cover up the scratches, and it'll never get scratched againmy nano has seen more abuse than it was ever intended for, and its not scratched a bit with that invisible shield on it
11/21/2005 9:53:16 AM
Why do you guys care so much about it being scratched? Unless the screen is scratched to the point where you can read what it is displaying, it isn't really hindering the functionality.
11/21/2005 10:03:28 AM
it's like not wanting your car to be all scratched to hell and looking like shit.still runs fine, looks like ass.
11/21/2005 10:10:37 AM
^^ thats exactly why I bought it for mine. Carring my Nano in my pocket with keys, change, dirt, lint, possible sand, maybe money, and who knows what else will end up prematurely scratching the screen to the point where you cant see through it.I could give a shit less if the rest of the nano gets scratched, my last 4th Gen ipod was scratched enough where the back mirrored surfact wasnt even a mirror anymore, but it didnt keep me from listening to it
11/21/2005 10:31:22 AM
Well a car is different in that people are gonna see it and probably judge you (sadly most people are that shallow) based on it. I don't think many people are going to think any less of you if your iPod is scratched.
11/21/2005 11:18:47 AM
I'll clean your ipod for 5 bucks.7 if i have to drive to you. I'll do it in front of you.[Edited on November 21, 2005 at 4:16 PM. Reason : .]

i'll screw your girl for 5 bucks.7 if i have to drive to you. i'll do it in front of you.(i mean it's something else you can easily do yourself...)[Edited on November 21, 2005 at 4:19 PM. Reason : *]
11/21/2005 4:18:58 PM
not if you dont have the product...buying the cleaner itself costs more than 5. just saving you the trip
11/21/2005 4:55:31 PM
toothpaste does work too... and I really hope you already have a tube of that sitting around.I mean think about it... it's basically a non-toxic polish...
11/21/2005 7:51:21 PM
what do you use with the toothpaste? a cotton ball like in that website, a washcloth, a toothbrush?i used it a few years ago on some cds, but forgot what i did.
11/21/2005 7:58:34 PM
11/21/2005 9:46:39 PM
I just tried some toothpaste (aquafresh if anyone is curious) and it didn't really get rid of any scratches. Maybe I have to just scrub it some more or use something softer. It did make it really shiny though and now my iPod smells minty fresh.
11/21/2005 10:19:33 PM
^hah yeah i've been wanting to try it, but i don't know if it'll do anything. i'll try it later tonight when i feel like procrastinating even more on work. i'll let y'all know how it works.
11/21/2005 11:08:19 PM
yeah, when I used toothpaste on my sister's nano I used normal crest, I used a peice of polishing cloth (basically felt I think) for silverware. that seemed to work. the cd kit will probably work better though, and is less annoying to clean up.to tell you the trooth, the polishing cloth may have done more than the toothpaste.[Edited on November 21, 2005 at 11:32 PM.
