I dont have time, and cant find anything off hand, but i need to know the strategic situation of the war in sept of 1864. i want to know what was under union control and where the major campaigns were at about this time. i know sherman was marching through atlanta and grant was pushing south in the east, but if someone knows the exact info of where the armies were at around this time on all fronts, and can sketch it on a map it would be greatly appreciated.

Sherman takes Atlanta (2 sept.)

Sheridon pushes CSA out of the Shenandoah (OCt)

Thats about it, this was during the 4 front war so the armies were spread out but those were the only major battles.

Not really, sept was a lull in the war. That is straight from my textbook.

The Shelby Foote 3 volume narrative has an excellent account and a number of maps...not sure if it's exactly what you are looking for.

Most Definitely check that out. There was some local action going on there about that ime of the year, and having been there, they have lots of info on the state of the war at that time, not to mention some pretty good historians.
