Looks kinda like an amateur HP "pictures of your momma, pictures of your poppa, taken from a long time ago" commercial.I could see it happening soon. Anyone remember that Sega hologram game from 10+ years ago? Now why anyone would want to see the junk on their desk as a desktop background is beyond me...
11/18/2005 10:09:45 AM
so some guy set his desktop to be solid green and used the green screen techniques to replace anything green (or whatever) with a still image of the same space without the computer present... yay...

i really like this ideaif it didn't require cleaning my desk i would do this @ my apt
11/18/2005 1:39:59 PM
^Chances are if it did exist I would want to put a screen behind the viewing area to create a uniform background anyway. If would defeat the purpose.
11/18/2005 1:43:37 PM
The hand and iPod are in the desktop. The sleeve is a dummy arm.Pretty damn cool, though.very similar to this one:

Yeah, I've seen someone's setup for one of these. Had a fiber-optic extension to a camera attached to the back of his laptop to grab the image. However, after showing you how cool it was, he walked around behind the laptop and showed the chair full of equipment used to produce the background.I really wish I knew what the URL was for the video. :-/

^^^most people just move the monitor, take the picture, and then move the monitor backwtf are you talkin about?
11/18/2005 3:29:13 PM
^ i'm assuming he meant for it to do what the video is doing
11/18/2005 4:11:49 PM
^if anyone has every had Bitzer(teacher at State that invented the Plasma pretty much) he says the only reason why we cant see through all plasmas and lcds is because they needed somewhere to put the electronics. I know of people taking apart their LCDs and putting them on an overhead projector to create a cheap projector, so yea LCDs are all see through if you take them far enough apart, but I dont where all the parts behind the monitor went in that video.....
11/18/2005 6:11:11 PM
^ beacuse that's not what he did in the video...
11/18/2005 7:31:11 PM
it's a cool editing trick, but if you were to actually have an isight/camera hooked up to the back of your powerbook lid, it would only work from a specific observer angle... kinda like that one scene from indiana jones and the last crusade, if you dig.
