http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/3756322Wow they actually have us in a bowl in NC none the less hopefully we can win 2 games
11/15/2005 6:02:07 PM
we travel well and its just in charlotte, plus they have 8 teams, there banking that the acc gets two bcs teams. If we finish 6-5 and two acc tems get bcs bids then we are in
11/15/2005 6:13:16 PM
if (we go 6 and 5) andif (two acc teams go BCS) andif (the SEC doesn't have enough eligible teams) andif (bowl sponsors pick us) thenwe go to a bowl gamestatistical improbability. We needed a W against BC... I'm not banking on a bowl game... but going to one would be a really good bonus.
11/15/2005 6:22:39 PM
we are in a little better shape than that...http://www.newsobserver.com/752/story/367113.html
11/15/2005 6:46:13 PM
PLEASE GO TO CHARLOTTE OVER BOISEPLEASEAt least all of our NC recruits could come watch us in our bowl game...even if we get smoked. I'd love to invite Mr. Spikes down there (Who said today we'd probably get an OV, which is news to anyone who follows recruiting)
11/15/2005 6:48:55 PM
And who said we'd go to Boise from week 1?That's right, yours trulyMake your reservations now. Bring me back a potato
11/15/2005 7:15:43 PM
I'll bring you some Smurf Turf
11/15/2005 7:18:06 PM
I said Charlotte, I still have a shot!
11/15/2005 7:24:36 PM
THE FACT IS THAT ALL WE HAVE TO DO TO GO TO A BOWL IS WIN OUT!4 BOWLS ARE LOOKING AT US RIGHT NOW BUT WE HAVE TO BECOME ELIGIBLE FIRST AND IF SO THEN WE WOULD HAVE WON 5 OF OUR LAST 6 GAMES AND BOWLS LIKE THAT!!
11/15/2005 8:36:25 PM
11/15/2005 8:38:13 PM
^4 of 5 actually
11/15/2005 9:13:26 PM
4 bowls?Charlotte, Blue Turf, Tang?and who else will take us? The New Orleans Bowl?
11/15/2005 9:16:28 PM
11/15/2005 9:34:23 PM
yea on 850 tonight they were pretty much begging Beck to invite ncsu
11/15/2005 9:38:06 PM
Give it up there will be no bowl
11/15/2005 9:43:07 PM
If we beat MD (& MTSU of course), we go bowling, end of story. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron. The Orlando bowl & probably charlotte are doubtful, even if we're eligible. It likely would be either the Boise or Memphis & maybe one of the extra SEC bowls (Shreveport, Nashville, or Houston)
11/15/2005 10:20:09 PM
if we win out, charlotte will want us
11/15/2005 10:29:26 PM
Charlotte is only even a chance is VT gets a BCS bid. If VT doesn't, Clemson goes to Charlotte. Even then, it'd still just be an option between us, UVA, & GT (with 4 conference wins).UM - BCSVT - Gator/BCSFSU - Peach/GatorBC - Orlando/PeachCU - Charlotte/OrlandoGT/UVA/NCSU - Boise/CharlotteGT/UVA/NCSU - Memphis / Boise
11/15/2005 10:48:33 PM
but what if FSU gets lucky in the championship game? i know the overall scenario would be basically the same. But who do u think gets the possible second BCS, UM or VT?
11/15/2005 11:16:38 PM
dont u fucks get it, no bowl at all
11/15/2005 11:47:19 PM
Who cares? I'm not flying to Idaho to see us play Boise State.
11/15/2005 11:55:35 PM
If UVA ends up with 6 wins...they might be the one left out of this bowl picture, not us. They still have to play Miami and VT i think. their record is 3-3 in the acc right now. GT could lose out also...to Miami and Georgia and only have 6 wins. Us winning out from here would look a lot better than both of those teams...except GT finishes higher in the ACC. I'm not expecting shit though. I just hope we can NOT embarass ourselves this saturday.[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 12:09 AM. Reason : ]

Everyone needs to remember that conference standings have little to do with what teams get bids to certain bowls (see NCSU in Gator Bowl after the 2002 season). The bowls simply have an assigned priority to teams. The Charlotte bowl will likely pick NCSU (over other teams) if the 'Pack is bowl eligible because they have never had NCSU and about 40K-50K 'Pack fans would show up almost assuring a sellout regardless of who the Big East rep is.*If NCSU is eligible, keeping in mind that GT, BC, and UVa dont travel particularlly well.BCS MiamiBCS VT (LSU will lose SEC Championship)Gator Clemson/BC (Clemson is in if they beat USC)Peach FSU (Gator passes because Noles are in Championship game)Champs BC/ClemsonCar Care NCSUBoise GTLiberty, Poinsettia, Music City or other at-large - UVa[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 8:30 AM. And for whoever said we might get embarrassed in a bowl...c'mon now. We'd likely be playing in Charlotte with a home crowd against the likes of Rutgers.Think ECU game last year, but with little to no rival fans, and maybe a little more talent in the opposition.
11/16/2005 9:54:35 AM
The state college of New Jersey would probably embarrass us in a bowl game right now. At the very least in would be a close nail biter game [Edited on November 16, 2005 at 11:28 AM. Reason : r]
11/16/2005 11:27:47 AM
[NO]not with Schiano still there.. He is about as worthless a coach as you can find. The funny thing is that they have Top-20 talent but Schiano is a complete and utter moron of a motivator/game coach.
11/16/2005 11:34:56 AM
Hence "the likes of"...Even if it was Rutgers we faced, don't you think that the stands would be like >75% State fans in CHARLOTTE?
11/16/2005 12:09:52 PM
The general seats would be like 90% State fans but the Rutgers allotment would be close to 100% RU. Depending on how much the allotment is I don't know..

who said anything about flying
11/16/2005 12:33:04 PM
Well VT certainly isn't giving the ACC a 2nd BCS team now. And we don't even have a shot a Charlotte anymore. No way we go to Boise though. The Bowl picture now looks likeVT/FSU - BCSUM - GatorVT/FSU - PeachBC - OrlandoGT/CU - CharlotteGT/CU - BoiseUVA/(NCSU or MD) - likely MemphisUVA/(NCSU or MD) - likely Shreveport/Ft. As much as I'd like us to go to a bowl, I'm not gonna bullshit with myself and say well if this and that happens we'll go here. I think since our Maryland game is on ESPN, crowd turnout at the game could be a factor to committees. If they see a low turnout and that the fans have given up on the team, they'll be less likely to pick us seeing they'd think we wouldn't travel to the bowl game...All I really care about now is beating Maryland, we win and we'll see what happens...GO PACK!!![Edited on November 20, 2005 at 1:10 AM. 11/20/2005 1:09:21 AM
why woudl they see low turnout on the last home game on tv ? agasint an acc team and on national television ? ... if there is a low turnout we dont deserve a football program
11/20/2005 1:20:11 AM
Well i'm just hoping it's not like today's turnout. I know it's a lot different circumstances considering season ticket holders didn't get tickets to this game and it was just MTSU. But todays turnout was just plain pathetic and since the game is over a break, some people might not be able to make it...I wasn't saying that there's going to be a low turnout, my last post was just saying if it's a packed house and the crowd is hyped up it'll help out our case...
11/20/2005 1:27:28 AM
absolutly agree
11/20/2005 1:35:15 AM
11/20/2005 1:42:00 AM
well at least we have an excuse for a shitty turnout

there arent going to be enough teams with 6 wins to fill all the SEC's slots. 6 wins should get everyone in thats not in the Sun Belt. We win, we're in, but not w/o help. 7 ACC teams will have 6 wins (well, unless UNC beats VT, yeah right). 6 Slots are given to the ACC outright. There will essentially be 5 at-larges (2 given, 3 that other conf. wont be able to fill). The winner of our game w/ UMd. gets the 7th spot and a bowl somewhere, almost guaranteed. The Big 10 has 7 teams w/ 7 or more wins, and 6 spots. The SEC wont fill one of theirs, guaranteed. Assume that the last Big 10 team gets that one. The Big XII might fill theirs, they might not. CUSA might not fill 2 of theirs...so theres another possibility. Pull for Tulane, Marshall, and (UGH) EZU to win next week. Then there's the 2 at-larges...doubt the Liberty takes the lowest ACC team, and we sure as hell arent going to San Diego. So we have to a) WIN an b) hope some CUSA teams lose. Otherwise, we have to just win and pray we get picked over a school like Northwestern b/c we travel better.A Pac-10 spot will open up next week too, unless Stanford pulls off an upset over Notre Dame. The only way we'll ever be considered to fill a bid out west is if everyone shows up next week.O yeah, and UVa needs to lose too.[Edited on November 20, 2005 at 3:08 AM. Reason : .]

oh fuck, Boise gets the WAC champ, sooo....if we go there, we get to be embarassed by Fresno State, 2,000 miles from home, with 1,000 NC State fans there, on blue astroturf.PLEASE GIVE US ANYTHING BUT THAT (if we win)
11/20/2005 3:33:34 AM
LISTEN TO ME YOU FUCKERS AND LISTEN REAL GOOD
11/20/2005 3:43:54 AM
^^^WE ARE NOT GOING TO BOISE. WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? THE ONLY WAY BOISE COULD EVEN MAKE US AN OFFER IS IF CHARLOTTE PICKS GT OVER CLEMSON (which ain't happening) AND BOISE PICKS US OVER CLEMSON & UVA (which again, ain't happening)I specifically spelled out the Bowl scenario. Boise can't pick us over GT, so GT will be going to Boise. At best, we're the 7th ACC pick, & Boise is the 6th ACC bowl. And 7 does not equal 6. But we will be going bowling if we win. I think Memphis or Shreveport will take an ACC team because they know we will bring alot of fans.
11/20/2005 11:11:44 AM
LOLI forgot you were the #1 supreme bowl commander, and can decide where everyone goes. And you actually think I'm serious.Boise or Bust
11/20/2005 12:01:55 PM
^^ oh yeah, I forgot, we went to the Gator Bowl because we were the #2 team in the ACC that year and we didn't jump over anyone else because we travel well. I hate when teams get jumped[/sarcasm]
11/20/2005 4:25:43 PM
Miami losing basically fucks us cause that means the only ACC team in a BCS will be winner of the championship game more than likely.
11/20/2005 4:45:44 PM
^ Pretty much.^^That was a totally different situation. You can jump over teams with only 1 more conf. win than you, which was the case then (4-4 vs. 5-3). You CAN'T jump over teams with 2 more conference wins than you, which would be the case this year. If you 2 actually knew the selection rules, you would know that. Therefore, Miami, VT, FSU, BC, GT must be picked before us. Yes, we could jump Clemson, as per the rules, but that is only an option if all the 5+ ACC win teams have been selected. If anything, Clemson will likely jump at least GT, if not BC (& maybe FSU) too. If you 2 are too ignorant to understand that, then your opinion doesn't count.[Edited on November 20, 2005 at 4:52 PM.
