Have a good system and dont feel like tearing it apart to switch to a new board with PCI-E. Both for ATI and Nvidia, though I prefer ATI.

How much you looking to spend? You can get x850XT for just over $400, X800's series in the 300's...don't see any 6800/7800's on newegg for agp (are they only PCI-e? never looked as I'm an ATI user)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121519I have this in PCI-E, and it runs BF2 on high with no problem. I'd imagine there isn't a huge difference between the interfaces

hmmm I have an ATI 9600 XT 256MB and I seem to run everything, including BF2 very well..maybe I'll hold out awhile and get that x800 or x850 XT when they come down in price. A 512 MB card would be great too, but I dont see any AGP ones on pricewatch.

if you're going fine on what you want now, you may as well wait on a card until you're ready to build a new machine. it would be a shame to spend money on an AGP card now and wish in a year you had gone PCI-e

Good advice.

6800GT i think is agp...
11/14/2005 7:43:56 PM
512mb agp cards will probably never exist, so don't hold out for one of those. The 6600GT is a good card for around $140. If you wanna spend like double that, the 6800GT or x800xL are both good ways to go.

agp is dead. Neither nvidia nor ati has released plans to continue making AGP cards. The main reasons are:1. PCI-e offers more available power2. PCI-e will lead the way with more bandwith intensive software
11/14/2005 10:30:20 PM
there STILL is not difference in performance
11/14/2005 10:51:49 PM
At the moment there is almost no difference in performance. The transition from agp to pci-e is just like the transition from ddr to ddr2 memory. It is necessary to take the next step for the future.

haha my bad, i read it as you were trying to sell him yours and saying that it would work in his AGP slot
11/14/2005 11:05:02 PM
Ah Dude, if you push hard enough it'll fit. I promise

A good ati card, why don't you stick some aluminum foil in you pic-e slot? Nvidea, now there's a card.
