for you to take your dogs with you? I was thinking of something like a doggie daycare... but basically I want any type of job where I could take my dogs with me at least 3 times a week. I need to start working more, and I just feel bad leaving my dogs in an the apartment all the time because i live by myself. so, i figured if I could either get a high paying job so that I can send them to doggie daycare (Which is unlikely considering I don't have a degree yet) or something that I can bring them with me.
Anyone know of a place?

I never understood why buisnesses aren't more dog friendly anyhow... there are a lot of good dogs out there, and they boost morale in the work place.
Hell, even the military will allow some well-behaved dogs to go to work with them!

If you can't afford to have someone either take care of them, or they can't stay alone you don't need dogs. If you have more than one, they can keep one another company..they will not hate you for leaving them, what is more important? Making money, or leaving the dogs alone for a few hours. i work at Camp Bow Wow which is technically in durham but it's out next to Brier Creek. i can bring my dog to work with me everyday if i want. it's great socialization for her. we might be hiring, i'm not sure. we definitely need help though.

and the honest truth is that if you're in a high enough position, you can bring your dog probably just about to any job. My dad is the manager of tops for shoes in downtown asheville, and he brings the dog sometimes. ardie just hangs out in the back office. And sometimes he goes to work with my mom. she works at bank of america, she does mortgages. He just hangs out under the desk.

I wish my dog could come to work with me he'd love it. He doesn't mind chilling all day though, or at least, he doesn't seem to.

I understand that other people don't like my dog as much as me... hence why I was kinda thinking of jobs that involve other animals.... like doggie daycare or vets or animal rehabilitation center... or, ya know, something that works with animals. And, yes, i did say that the military uses some dogs, but I do realize that the majority of places I go do not have dogs... I just want to work at a place that does.
And as for not going and buying myself a dog... hmmm... lets think about that... I didn't. My dogs wound up at my door. I tried to find them homes, but no one wanted them because they got attached to me. Holly, the younger one... I found her a home recently.... the stupid human returned her because she barks. go fig. a dog that barks.
So, instead of worrying about them and their seperation anxiety I thought i might try and find something that could ensure that they are at least in the presence of people who actually like them.

It's like those dog day spas. I've never had a dog that liked getting baths, or that wanted to be groomed or anything. My parents dogs definitely like to play and everything, but they can do that at home. For free.

The one mine attends is $18 a day, he doesn't go everyday though. Since I only have one dog I don't like him staying at home all day by himself and some days I am unable to come home for lunch. This way he actually gets to interact with other dogs and people.

I would think that dogs in the workplace would be on the decline - it seems like more and more people are simply allergic to the animals. I do know that I have wound up with dog hair on my clothes from just my co-workers getting their backpacks up against my chair and my clothes picking it up from there. Gross.

I had no idea there were any places that allowed employees to bring their dogs. I mean, I've been in stores that had animals like a cat wandering around, and there was a store in Pacific Grove in California that had a huge white dog that chilled out all day. I've never had a pet that I missed so much while I was at work that I wished I could take them with me.

I know they'll manage... but I figured that since I am thinking of changing my career goals towards working with animals and possibly being an animal behaviorist, the best way to make them 'great dogs' is to socialize them.
if a dog has something to do they are less likely to act out by doing things such as chewing on your shoes or whatever. And, yes, they may be less likely to do that the older they get... but it still makes for a happier dog.
so, if I could find a place to work that I can take them with me, kudos... if not, thenI guess they will have to learn to live with it like most every other dog.
and as for them being 'just dogs'.... contrary to popular belief they have brains, they have feelings, and they have personalities... People are just too wrapped up in themselves to see that.

while I may be missing a few screws, i do not actually think that my dogs are human... that's a little too wack even for me. I have just met a lot of people that don't think that animals have feelings or personalities... that they are more like inanimate objects.
A lot of people question as to why I am so concerned for leaving my dogs for more than 8 hours at a time... I dunno, because i think that they get lonely too? Maybe I am just weird, but I see my dogs like children... can't help it.... maybe it was the way I was raised.
would you like to be left alone for 8 or more hours with absolutely nothing to do and not knowing when someone was going to come to give you a change of scenery? but, wait, you're not an 'animal', and i guess animals don't care.

8 hours really isnt that bad when they have each other. my point was, dogs arent like humans where they require a great deal of special care (especially to be entertained). i mean, they dont go out and do stuff or anything besides the occasional walk or trip to the park. my sisters got a brood of chiuauas and although they are extremely happy to see her after a long (10-12 hr) day, they always seem content when i go over to check on them or do something at the house.
