Good beginners bike? Or is it too low powered to keep up with 70 mph cars on the highway? Thoughts please.....

top speed is like 90mph or something close, but it would be a good first bike and a great city bike. That sucker gets insane gas milage. Like 80 mpg.

^^^yeah, i agree. i bet you can find a Ninja 500 (EX-500) for about the same price or a little more than the 250, and you'll probably be much more satisfied with it.

If its your very first bike, a 250 is fine. Just be prepared to trade up in a year or so.

250s handle better, and the new ones have around 40+hp (which is how much 500s had a decade ago). They're also more reliable, more fuel efficient, and easier for newbs to handle/wont drop as easily.

Not everyone is solely concerned with going fast in a straight line, or is a fat-ass who needs 100lb-ft just to get a bike going.

I rode a ragged out ninja 250 that I was thinking about buying a couple of years ago. I didn't buy it, but it was fun to ride. I think it would be a good, inexpensive first bike.

dirt bikes are fun, even the 150cc ones, thats how the ninja 250's would seem like. But I wouldn't want to drive it on the highway. good city bike. gets you place to place. thats bout it
