Heard so much about this movie. Finally got it recorded on my DVR and sat down to watch it the other night. What a fucking waste of time. If it wasnt for the ability to fast forward, I wouldnt have even finished this movie. The only wathcable scenes were with them durig 'Nam, and that was only around an hour of the 3hour movie. Was anyone else let down by this movie?

you have to realize that deer hunter was made before everyone in the world was ADD. just because there wasnt flashing lights and camera changes every 1.3 seconds doesnt make it a bad movie. i thought it was a good movie with kind of a dark undertone. also apocalypse now, come on now. that is one of the best

^^I agree, and I think The Deer Hunter's a great movie.

There's nothing wrong with a movie that develops slowly and has well-done characters that you actually care about by the end of the movie. I'd rather see that than have my hand held through a dumbed-down, obvious story.

i was extremely disappointed as well because i'm a huge de niro fan. they could have cut out the first part of the movie and began when they went to Nam and it would have been much better.

the characters were intriguing but not very well developed. i didn't feel anything when SPOILER christopher walker shot himself or when you saw what a sad predicament the 3rd friend was in (the guy in the hospital with the money in the socks or whatever it was, its been a while since i saw it and when i saw it, it was like 3am.)

overall it wasn't a bad movie but it didn't live up to its hype imo.

dang. while i will admit deer hunter is freaking slow, i read, a TON. (well ...this year ive been really slack) and the hobbit is my all time favorite book. One of the most entertaining books with the deepest story, developed world and characters, something is always happening. Ive read the book 8 times now since the first time my dad read it to me when i was young, and love it every time.
