Since this is an owned cat, you can try a couple of things before either keeping it or turning it over to an adoption organization. 1) Map where you found the cat and draw a circle 20 miles from the center. Chances are the cat has not traveled that far, but it gives you an idea of how to prioritize your owner search efforts. Do the following activities working your way out from the center of the circle. 2) Post Found posters on streets, put in mailboxes, at key public places and businesses. Note the name Raven, where found, who to call. Leave some descriptors of the cat out of your poster so you can ask callers and see if they are true owners of the cat. 3) Call area vets and see if they have a Raven in their databases. Take it to one vet to see if the cat has a chip, though it probably does not. Take your flyers to the vet to post or put in notebooks that they have. If you want to provide a picture of the cat at the vet's office, its a pretty safe thing to do vs a poster on the street. Check the inside back legs of the cat for tatoos. Sometimes vets can track tatoos too.4) In this case, call the phone company and see if they can locate the new number of the owners. The new number might be unlisted and while you cannot get it, perhaps the phone operator would be kind enough to call them and let them know you have their cat. I don't know if the phone people would do that, but it is worth a try. If the phone is disconnected due to non payment, perhaps you could try again in a few days or see if it is reconnected. Ideas from anyone else?

Hah ya I hooked her up with my sleeping bag, bought some food and kitty litter so she was liking that. I'm thinking she might have been missing for a while since she chowed down on the food. Anyhow, finally got a hold of the owner and they're picking it up in a few hours.
