I have a speech tomorrow on the american red cross and donating blood... and I was just wondering if there was anyone out here who has had/ has a family member or friend who has had a blood transfusion from someone giving blood and it has saved their lives... or even someone who was waiting for a blood match but never received it and passed away.... any stories like that would be greatly appreciated

i do.uhmshe went in for an ileostomy modification, and before the operation, her clotting factor wasn't really acceptable, but waiting to operate wasn't an option.so she received two units. so yeah, it saved her life, both directly and in a roudabout way.she died of septecemia 8 months later
