SUCK SO BAD!!!

its liek walking into a pit of despair with a bunch of emo fags hanging out. last time i stepped foot in there, i got in, bought a beer, then the fuck at the door wanted like $5 bucks.

that place used to be cool to hear some bands, but the setup and acoustics in there fucking suck ass.

i hope you go out of business again just for the sheer fact that you made a poor business decision!

kthnx

Tips for making a trip to the Brewery a pleasurable experience:

1) Show up to the show 1-2 hours after the advertised time

You won't miss anything at all. In fact Brewery shows never start on time. Doors never open before 10!

2) Bring a knife

Drunk emo kids start fights every show. You never know when you are going to have to stab someone.

Hey, I guess I'm the fuck at the door. Out of all the shows I've worked we've only had one fight. maybe you think kids pushing and shoving each other is fighting. And don't bring a knife please.

It's so funny how a few people like to talk shit. We had a sold out show on Friday and a sold out show on Saturday. Obviously not everyone has a problem with The Brewery.

peakseeker - If you have a problem with the type of people who are there, then don't go when that type of music is playing. If you don't like emo, then go on a night when hip hop is playing. Or go when we have rock, or go when we have metal, or acoustic rock. And if someone made you go to the front door and pay $5, then that probably meant you snuck in the back without paying the cover. That says a lot about you right there.

teh_toch - The majority of time, the doors at The Brewery open on time or early. Occasionally (like at any other club), doors will open late. In most cases (not all), this is because the opening band is not there on time and it makes everything run late. And, for the record, doors have never opened as late as 10 pm for ANY show, other than a hip hop show. Hip hop crowds generally come out later, so we don't open doors until around 10 pm. But, thanks for the gross exaggeration... it really lends credibility to your argument. And, I think we have had about four fights in about 500 shows. If I remember correctly, one of them involved an "emo" kid. But, thanks again for the incorrect information.

By the way, $1 Beer Night is tonight! Every Monday is COLLEGE NIGHT with $1 Beer, $2 Well Drinks and Live Music!

Friday, November 18th is THE CAPULETS, 33 WEST, EVOKA and RAVEL.

Saturday, November 19th is HELLS BELLS: A Tribute to AC/DC.

yeah, 3 years ago when it was the old brewery and my uncle jac was the soundman, the new sound system there is horrible.

i like having a club on h-boro street, especially a smaller one w/ cheap drinks that has good music from time to time (ie: cruxshadows, the capulets coming up, parklife before they got rid of john heames). just curious, so as to gauge the scene: how many nights a week do those kung fu kids turn out, and how can i know when theyll be there so i can avoid the douchebaggery?

LOL - The new sound system destroys the old one! We put a brand new system in the room in June. I almost bought the old system when I was getting in there. It would have cost me several thousand dollars just to repair the old crap.

Your Uncle Jac? Well, at least you aren't biased.

PinkAndBlack - Every night is different. This past Wednesday, we had a "goth" show with Cruxshadows, Thursday we had a local hard rock show (nu metal/punk type stuff), Friday was pop rock and Saturday was heavier (Underoath type stuff). Next Thursday, it's singer/songwriter stuff with Jason Adamo and Thomas Cunningham. Friday is straight rock with The Capulets, Evoka, Ravel and 33 West. On Saturday, there are some indie bands playing early and then an AC/DC tribute band at 11 pm. So, the crowds are different all the time.

Psh, ever since it was opened back up that place has done a LOT better especially with how it looks inside, the sound system and the type of people it attracts. The brewery is an awesome place unless you want to sneak in the back without paying or getting drunk and starting shit.

If you want to go out and listen to ANY type of music The Brewery is the place. The only time I ever saw a problem is when a band showed up over 2 hours late and was mad because they got switched with another. I think they even went up.

The Brewery occassionally has some people who I wonder if there should be a law against them getting in front of a mic... but it's a place where LOCAL bands can rock it up AND they get big names too.

Don't listen to Peakseeker. Boy obviously got caught doing some shit he shouldn't have and when they called him on it he had to go and whine and bitch... just like an emo kid.

Call me when the Brewery gets someone on par with Steve Albini or Jonathan Richman.

The Brewery has found its niche. Big names are not a part of that.

Well, not all clubs can be expected to bring in big names. For the size of the club, they do quite well.

If youre expecting it to be like the Cradle, thats silly. The Cradle is more established and will get the bulk of the big club level acts that come through for their venues. Not to mention, many of these acts will bypass the triangle all together and go to Tremont or Ziggys or the Orange Peel. The Brewery seems to get lesser known bands that still draw quite a following, regardless of the genre of music (and how much I think this hXc and nu-metal stuff sucks )

I mean, even the old Brewery was a haven for local bands, and thats good that the new one has kept that. I had friends in HS that played there, and we loved it. The kids these days need the same thing.

I used the big names who have recently played at Kings for an example of what kind of names a "local band" type of place can bring in with the right situation.

As I said, the Brewery has its niche, and that's fine, but contrary to what Raige has said, I haven't seen any big names there.

The Brewery is not large enough to bring in NIN, but that doesn't mean there are not big names there. How "big" the names are seems to be relative to the type of music you listen to and like. We have done more sold out shows in the first year-and-a-half than the old Brewery did in the last three or four.

He is Legend (Solid State Records) has played at The Brewery four times and sold it out each time. They are obviously big to someone.

King's X have been around since the 80s and continue to do well each and every year. To some people, those guys are gods!

Motograter played Ozzfest the year before we brough them into The Brewery. Great show, great guys...

Copeland (The Militia Group) almost sold the place out before doors open. We could only sell 60 tickets once the doors opened because of the presales. How is that not "big?"

Bury Your Dead was at The Brewery a month ago. They played Ozzfest this past summer. Oh, and they sold out The Brewery.

Cruxshadows were at The Brewery last week. Now, I am not claiming they are a huge band, but they put on a great show, and Cruxshadows fans freaked out because we had them as their only NC stop on this tour. That may mean nothing to you, but these guys are massive in Europe and tour constantly - because they're THAT good.

There are people who have no idea who these bands are. There are also people who have no idea who Jonathan Richman or Steve Albini are. It's all relative unless you're as big as Eminem. Then everyone knows who you are.

And, peakseeker... The Brewery isnt going anywhere until I decide to leave. I have six more years on the lease with an option to renew for ten more after that. So, love it or hate it, The Brewery is doing well and not leaving - unless I get bored.

I'm willing to bet that 90% of the people on this board have a record that Albini had a hand in.

FWIW.

steve albini's drum sound>most of the metal drum recording ever

not an opinion, but a fact that has very little to do with this or any argument.

I think the brewery is great, and hope they keep up the good work. I realize its hard to balance local and national acts, but they seem to do a good job of it. and judging from the last couple sold out shows I've been to, it seems plenty of people like it, as opposed to the 3 or 4 whiners on here. I guess if you don't like it, start your own music venue and see how well it fares.

ummm, cursive is not from chapel hill, they are from omaha, nebraska, not sure how or why you think they're from around here. and they would never play the brewery anyway.

I played in Goldsboro at some coffeeshop sometime, but I can't remember the name of it... it wasn't grounds for expression but maybe the blue cup? or it had a blue cup on the door... right off Ash Street...
