Think about it, even if we qualify for a bowl, We are behind Miami, Va Tech, UNC, Virginia, Boston College, Florida State, and Georiga Tech....That means 7 teams have to get bowl bids before us, and even if we win out and carolina has a worse record, at best we are number 5 or 6, it is not looking good! Sorry to be the downer, I hope someone convinces me I'm wrong!

that doesn't mean anything. Some bowls can choose from more than 1 team.
There is an article in the paper today about the Peach Bowl interested in us if we win out...

They look at more than just who is ahead of us in the conference. We played Va Tech well, have only been blown out one time, and if we beat FSU, BC, and Maryland we will look like a team with a ton of momentum and a good traveling fan base(which we have had in the past).

IF we win out and make it to 7-4 on the season I do believe we get a bowl. But I'm not looking that far yet, we have a pissed off BC team, and a Maryland team that over the past few years has become pretty much a football rival for us.

I think if we beat BC we should have no problem with Maryland... that would be a big lift that would keep momentum going

That's a big IF, though. The coaches have a lot of work to do

We are behind Carolina cuz they beat us, I think we just might get left out in the cold because most bowls are traditonally against certain teams from certain conferences and we just dont have enough ACC bowls for everyone.

I do believe we were the best team in the ACC that season.

TA fumbled away games we had won (Maryland and GT ring a bell... both in the last minute of the game)

If FSU, BC, MIAMI, and VT get top 10 (well maybe not BC) they get an automatic BC spot. That leaves like 4 other bowl spots right?

I don't think we'll have to worry about it

FSU will probably get killed in the Championship game

BC isn't a threat becuase NC State's gonna smack that ass

VT and Miami will both probably go BCS bowling

We went to the Gator bowl in '03 because we travel well. That means more money for the host. If it came down between unc and nc state for a bowl, win or lose nc state would get the nod because we PWNT unc in fanbase.

And becuase Rivers/McLendon were a great media story

I also would like to believe that they thought we were the best team available. We were the highest ranked team in the ACC that year (Even higher than FSU, who got the BCS bid..oddly enough)

We were a damn good team that year. The only game we didn't control that year was Virginia. We had GT and Maryland beat from what I remember. (I'll never forget Leroy Ambush popping TA...illegal helmet to helmet as hell... but he nailed him. I still have nightmares about that hit, so I'm sure TA does )

The majority of unc's fanbase (Walmart Fans).....would not be able to afford tickets and travel expenses for a bowl game.

There are other bowls that may have other conference affiliations that could potentially pick an ACC team if that conference doesnt have enough bowl eligible teams, as well as bowls that do not have a conference affiliation. If we finish 6-5, Im fairly certain we will have a bowl, even if its the Humanitarian Bowl or some other crappy bowl. And if we finish 7-4, then we are a hot team, winning 5 straight games, making us much more attractive than maybe a team that backed into a bowl game. That being said, it would definitely help if VT and Miami won out and both got a BCS bowl.

unc still has to play maryland, duke (they should win), and virginia tech AT virginia tech...so unc is lookin at best 6-5..maybe 5-6

if we win out we will be 2nd in the division (assuming wake doesnt upset miami and clemson doesnt upset fsu)
gt still has to play miami and georgia and virginia still has miami and vt unc also has vt

thus we will likely be 4th in the acc 2nd in the division if we win out (or at least 4th best looking)
vt will get an at large bid to a january bowl, and the tittle game loser will play in the gator bowl. that leaves the peach bowl as the next highest bowl (and a damn good bowl) with us as the leading canidate

if we only go 6-5 theres

humanitarion
micron pc
silicon valley classic
contenintal tire
tangerine
peach

all have an option of picking ncsu even as an at large team

^^^He fumbled on the last two drives.... the one you're talking about led to Maryland taking the lead with :47 seconds left (I just remember we led all but :47 of that game)

The drive after that..trying to retake the lead, TA ran up the middle and got blindsided by Leroy Ambush. He fumbled the ball on our own 20 yard line that sealed the Maryland win

^^the peach bowl doesnt suck anymore. its porbobly the best december bowl out there or at least one of the top. think about how 3rd in the acc used to suck but now 3rd in the acc is usually gonna be a top 15 team. the sec has always sent good teams. i remember unc played tennessee in it one year. 3rd in the acc used to suck so our views of that bowl are bad. it pays alot of money

im just worried about gt being picked over us since they are in atlanta

The Peach Bowl never sucked.

In addition, State won't be going to the Peach Bowl, so don't worry about it.

Lots of state fans would LOVE for NCSU to play an SEC team
even SEC fans like ACC matchups.
Us playing a team like florida, georgia, tennessee, etc...
would draw lots of wolfpack fans.

I don't know. I think it would be a good game.
The players would get pumped playing an SEC team.
and we'd have a big turnout as well.
Atlanta is an easy drive...
plus my aunt and uncle live there so I'd have free room and board
still too early to talk about bowls though

Gator Jan. 2 ACC No. 2 vs. Big East No. 2
Meineke Car Care Dec. 31 ACC vs. Big East
Peach Dec. 30 ACC No. 3 vs. SEC
MPC Computers Dec. 28 WAC vs. ACC No. 6
Champs Sports Dec. 27 ACC 4/5 vs. Big 12 No. 7

plus 1 or possibly 2 bcs teams = 6 or 7 acc bowl teams

if we are eligible we will go to a bowl

I think we will now too, I just looked at schedules and we control our own destiny, we have a legitimate shot at 4th or 5th in the conference, behind Ga. Tech, FSU, Miami, and VaTech, probly BC too but they could lose a lot of games here at the end.

On that link, Middle Tennessee is in a bowl because they are the top team in their conference. They may give us more of a game than most of you all think. I said earlier they beat Vandy already this year.

Lets Assign Teams Here
BCS Bid- Miami and Va. Tech?
Gator Jan. 2 ACC No. 2 vs. Big East No. 2- Florida State
Meineke Car Care Dec. 31 ACC vs. Big East- Ga Tech
Peach Dec. 30 ACC No. 3 vs. SEC- NCSU
MPC Computers Dec. 28 WAC vs. ACC No. 6- Boston College
Champs Sports Dec. 27 ACC 4/5 vs. Big 12 No. 7- Clemson

This is if......
Clemson Loses to Florida State and Beats South Carolina which makes them 6 and 4

Boston College loses to NCSU and Carolina which makes them 6-4

Virginia Loses To Ga. Tech, Miami and Va Tech which makes them 5-5 and ineligable for a bowl, even if they win 1 they still only have 6 and could be odd team out, doesnt really matter

Maryland loses to Boston College and NCSU which makes them 5-6

Carolina loses to Maryland and Va Tech which makes them 5-6

NC STATE WINS OUT AGAINST A WEAK MTSU, MARYLAND AND BC!!!

PEACH BOWL BABY!!

I Cant believe that is actually possible but every game I wrote down is exactly how i would pick them too! Its not a fantasy!!

Virginia won't lose out. Possible but not likely.

I don't see UNC losing to Maryland either. I really think UNC is an impressive team, sadly

I think that's the NCSU dream situation above.... very very unlikely

^^ I'm not saying they cant... but surely you'd have to think they can win at least one of those

Also, When it comes to Eastern Kentucky... isn't there a new Bowl rule that says you can only count a win over a Division 2 team towards bowl eligibility every 4 years? Have we already used that...maybe?

I don't know exactly how that works, but I know there's a rule about it. Anyone know?

^We in the past have had at least 7 wins, so we never technically "had" to count a D-1 AA win. So I dont think it will apply this year if we get 6.

Yeah... I knew that, but I'm not sure how it works

Would it count if, say during the Gator Bowl year, we used that Div-1AA win to say we had a 10-win season and get the spot?

Does it mean "if your 6th win is Div-1AA" (Which I assume it does)... or possibly the scenario above?

^yup

and i think we might be sleeping on MTSU a little too.
They are right behind us

total defense: we are 19, they are 22
pass D: we are 21, they are 24
rushing D: we are 22, they are 42
scoring D: we are 32, they are 9

and their offensive stats are down around 100

and i know stats don't really mean that much, but i can easily see that game being like USM. hopefully we play better than we did against them.
