I have an IBM thinkpad laptop. Most of the time I have it plugged into the wall unless I'm taking it outside for some reason. Sitting on the couch, I can be perfectly still and the power will switch from the adapter to my battery without the cord coming unplugged or anything. When using only battery, it lasts for maybe 10 minutes before turning off. Earlier today I left my computer on the floor and went outside and when I came in the computer was off. I'm guessing the cord wiggled or something and went on battery and died. Anyway, since then my battery wont charge past 25% and it is still turning off and on.Does anyone know what is going on? Do I need a new battery, adapter cord, or what? I'm sick of it and need to fix it, but don't know what to do about it.

How old is the laptopMost probably the battery needs replacement since your adaptor still works...but since you mention that it switches from adaptor to battery spontaneously, something could be wrong with the connector.

Buy a new battery ... you used up your current battery

Okay so I agree about a new battery... but what about the power switching randomly from adapter to battery?

well since you have to get a new battery anyway i would just do that, and if that fixes it you dont need to worry about it[Edited on November 6, 2005 at 9:20 AM. Reason : .]
