hope it catches on better than the snoop devilleactually, no i dont hope that.
11/5/2005 4:23:39 AM
It would've been better if it had Linux
11/5/2005 5:44:52 AM
Just because you got a car doesn't give you the right to start posting any little whim that comes to your pea brain. There is nothing cool, or innovative about this at all, and it certainly doesn't need a thread. There are several people on here that have systems that dominate this one from a computing perspective.
11/5/2005 8:25:14 AM
esgargs getting a car is the worst thing that has happened to garage in a while
11/5/2005 10:04:09 AM
A touch screen doesn't make up for fake wood, sorry.
11/5/2005 10:08:19 AM
fake wood belongs on a truck dashreal wood belongs in the bed
11/5/2005 10:48:26 AM
11/5/2005 10:59:39 AM
i guess it's cool that they are doing it stock but it's been done for years
11/5/2005 11:12:31 AM
^ exactly
11/5/2005 11:32:31 AM
Its probably only going to work when the car is in park, similar to using a majority of the commands in a stock navigation system. Plastic that looks like wood should just in fact be plastic that looks like plastic.
11/5/2005 12:24:56 PM
Damn...that sucks if you can't control the navigation while driving.I mean some of us are suave enough to drive and type.
11/5/2005 1:01:30 PM
in the "Contractor Package" do you think it will be used for office keeping or watching pirated porn & listening to stolen music?
11/5/2005 2:27:26 PM
Its probably only going to work when the car is in park not moving, which would be great for a ford.
11/5/2005 2:30:39 PM
when windows crashes, do you have to pull over and reinstall?
11/5/2005 3:23:18 PM
11/5/2005 3:25:52 PM
it's a great idea - look at my photo gallery - the way they implemented it doesn't making computing while driving that easy
11/5/2005 3:42:44 PM
I bet you can tow a lot more stuff with that computer in your truck
11/5/2005 3:55:55 PM
11/5/2005 4:05:20 PM
That's a new truck? Wow, I really thought it was something from the late 80s or early 90s with a few accessories from Pep Boys... I'm not just saying that, honest.Ahmet
11/5/2005 5:08:07 PM
nothing about that looks 80's
11/5/2005 5:59:48 PM
This is subjective, obviously but it looks quite dated to me. The only thing that doesn't look dated in that interior is the touchscreen display, which also could've been a few years old. Clearly this interior doesn't look dated or old to some of us, but it does to me.Ahmet
11/5/2005 6:58:33 PM
ugly interior
11/5/2005 7:01:37 PM
ahmet hates everything american..what were you expecting
11/5/2005 7:05:43 PM
^^ someone should be shot for trying to bring back "wood paneling" in cars[Edited on November 5, 2005 at 7:06 PM. Reason : ^]
11/5/2005 7:06:16 PM
unless it is real wood (i.e. Bentley)
11/5/2005 7:17:37 PM
^ That would be completely different. However, considering that it is fake wood (i.e. early Chrysler MiniVan) then someone still needs a good pistol-whipping.
11/5/2005 7:23:53 PM
11/5/2005 10:39:49 PM
Windows has a crappy enough UI with a mouse and keyboard, I couldn't imagine trying to use it in a car.
11/5/2005 10:53:17 PM
I don't hate everything American (I don't think you know me, do you?). I like most jeeps (mostly older, and especially wranglers), I also really like a lot of American trucks, late 90s F-150s included. Just because I don't like the interior(s) doesn't mean I think it's a bad car (or truck). I like most GM trucks, Some current Chryslers are good cars, as is the C5 vette and the C6 vette, z06 and otherwise.Ahmet
11/6/2005 12:28:57 AM
Gargs
11/6/2005 12:30:54 AM
esgargs, I meant the "wood paneling", cup holders, stereo, etc.Ahmet
11/6/2005 12:33:52 AM
what's so 80s about it?I am just curiousGargs
11/6/2005 12:39:54 AM
I feel silly responding to that, but I will try;The column mounted shifter (which is skinny and shiny plastic), the sharp contours, square (and large) buttons, the color scheme, shapes... I've debated interior contruction/materials, etc. with many people. Some understand and appreciate a nicely built interior, and some don't. Usually those that are happy with their Ford Mustang/Camaro, etc. are the same people that don't.Ahmet
11/6/2005 1:22:46 AM
wrong thread[Edited on November 6, 2005 at 1:24 AM. Reason : .]
11/6/2005 1:23:42 AM
^^ wtf Gargs
11/6/2005 1:25:32 AM
Exactly.Ahmet
11/6/2005 1:26:34 AM
80's interior:
11/6/2005 3:11:29 PM
Man they look EXACTLY the same.gates
11/6/2005 9:33:28 PM
Guth, I realize once you make a statemet you have to stick to it, but there is still nothing innovative about this, sorry.
11/7/2005 4:26:37 AM
i'll give it to himford has been using that same column shifter for a generationand aside from the cd player slot, that looks like an early 90s radioand i have less than a clue what those cd-sized squares with one control each in them are (besides an eyesore)
11/7/2005 9:23:07 AM
that option is gonna be cost how much? like 2 grand... maybe more? I'd rather get a laptop and a laptop stand for that price. Although tablet pc would be a better choice, but those are still expensive.Atleast this esgargs thread is actually on top about a car... not something stupid.
11/7/2005 6:39:57 PM
where else would you put the shifter on an automatic? I have a mitisibusi fuso and the shiter is in the middle but that kind of suck on a work truck (ie bench seat) because the guy in the middle gets felt up, column mounted shifter is the way to go. of course i think trucks with automatics are kind of gay, give me the 6 on the floor any day. but for a chick truck or a go to church truck autos are ok.
11/7/2005 6:46:17 PM
11/7/2005 6:47:18 PM
isn't that a Ford van dash? it looks like one of those customized living rooms on wheels to me.
11/7/2005 7:03:25 PM
^^ not actual automobile manufacturers, but there are some aftermarket stuff you can get for a car. Its actually not that hard to fit a whole computer in the glove box and power it, just need to get a converter from DC to AC, or unless you can get a psu that takes DC directly, then thats just more efficient.
