'Hair product' or 'gel' in a guys hair: required, acceptable, unacceptable, hideous?
11/3/2005 1:32:35 PM
there are many more products than gel.gel sucks.
11/3/2005 1:33:34 PM
i know it's not helpful, but it really just depends on the guy, how much they put it, and how they style it... but yes, it can look good.
11/3/2005 1:41:26 PM
Depends on the guy, depends on the hair..sorry I can't help.
11/3/2005 1:42:02 PM
I'm a Dapper Dan man!
11/3/2005 1:45:06 PM
I look like crap without at least a little bit.
11/3/2005 1:46:33 PM
In the past two weeks, the NY Times, my hair guy and a lawyer I drink with have all said that men shouldn't use anything in their hair. You're supposed to only wash it every other day, instead.
11/3/2005 1:52:03 PM
FOP!?!
11/3/2005 2:10:34 PM
11/3/2005 2:15:02 PM
it depends on the hair style of course. as long as it isn't shiny or greasy (i can't stand that), it isn't a problem at all.
11/3/2005 2:16:05 PM
I use goldwell I think.. only for work though so I don't look like a slob.. other wise I don't use anything..
11/3/2005 2:17:08 PM
hair product or gel on guys is not acceptable at all. I hate looking at a guys hair and it looks stiff and crunchy. I think its sexy for a guy to have hair that looks a little unruly if its long. If guys want their hair to look neater, cut it. There is no need for hair product on a guy AT ALL. Also a no-no, guys that blow dry their hair.
11/3/2005 2:19:25 PM
Personally I like being able to run my fingers thru said hair...but sometimes fluffy hair looks awful. Gel isn't bad as long as you're not one of those guys who WIGS out if something touches their hair.Hahaha, I said wigs.........[Edited on November 3, 2005 at 2:21 PM. Reason : lol]
11/3/2005 2:21:23 PM
unless i keep it really short (almost shaved), my hair just lays flat down on my head. i hate that so sometimes i put a little stuff in it to atleast give it "style" for lack of better word[Edited on November 3, 2005 at 2:28 PM. Reason : yeah]
11/3/2005 2:27:21 PM
i put my hair in a poney tail, you don like it get lost
11/3/2005 2:28:35 PM
Never trust a guy with a ponytail.
11/3/2005 2:29:37 PM
^^^I call that loose tooth hair. Like hair that feels like you're wiggling a loose tooth when you touch it and move hand back/forth..[Edited on November 3, 2005 at 2:31 PM. Reason : ^]

11/3/2005 2:39:59 PM
Why did you erase "I braid my pubes"?They talked me into buying wax last time I got my hair cut. I used it once and came out looking like an emo kid. Bad news.
11/3/2005 2:41:22 PM
My boyfriend uses American Crew's Fiber stuff in his hair cause hes trying to grow it out from being a buzz cut and its just at an odd length to let it do what it would do naturally... and some times you just need to not have messed up hair. It doesnt leave his hair hard or gross either... you cant tell he has anything it just from looking.
11/3/2005 2:46:09 PM
^^ i had second thoughts and thought it was inappropriate
11/3/2005 2:48:43 PM
I use a straightening balm to weigh down a bit, my hair is thick as fuck and doesnt quite fro, but its way too huge (even when thinned out during cuts)its pretty hard to tell anything is in it, and it does what i want.

no gel, blechbut then if youre the i-spike-my-hair-up-with-gel kinda guy, then youre most likely not my type anyways, though there have been a few exceptionsbut its no use using gel around me, ill fuck with your hair til you cant tell theres gel in it anymore
11/3/2005 3:07:12 PM
^^^Agreed. When I don't do my hair, I flat out don't look as good. I have that hair style where it flies around into a "fro" and it doesn't look attractive to the women (and that's what matters). Not to mention, it makes me look like some mexican (I'm asian). Even a little bit of water would do wonders for my hair. It just looks better when it has a "wet" look to it. I know there are females out there that do the same thing because the hair is just hard to manage without something, anything to keep it in place.[Edited on November 3, 2005 at 3:13 PM. 11/3/2005 3:13:09 PM
if it gets anything sticky, slimy, or greasy on my hands, i'm grossed out. prefer clean, short hair.
11/3/2005 3:24:33 PM
a little dab'll do ya
11/3/2005 3:36:01 PM
dont listen to what people sayhair gel looks good
11/3/2005 3:42:47 PM
I have no problems with men using some hair products, but it just depends on your overall look, your hair type and how/what products you use -- it can some times look really cheesy, and some times really hot.e.g. this guy is the hotness (probably gay, but hot nevertheless)[Edited on November 3, 2005 at 4:00 PM. Reason : and he reminds me of a certain somebody :-(]
11/3/2005 3:59:30 PM
Guys can do whatever they want to their hair. It'll balance out the universe because I swore off shampoo.
11/3/2005 4:05:12 PM
I use this stuffIf I don't my hair looks like ass. I try to keep my hair short but my hair grows so fast I can't keep up with haircuts sometimes. It's the best product I've found that doesn't make my hair look all weighted down and greasy.I have so many cowlicks my hair looks bad if I don't do something to it. Everytime I go get a haircut the person cutting my hair says I have the weirdest hair growth pattern they've ever seen. I get a mad rooster tail in the back every morning when I wake up that I have to do something with.
11/3/2005 4:11:58 PM
I like it when a guy takes a little time out of his morning routine to put some gel in his hair... but if he takes longer to get ready than I do, we have a problem
11/3/2005 4:12:16 PM
^^^ How do you keep your hair clean then? I *hate* using shampoo everyday, would love to find an alternative.
11/3/2005 4:21:38 PM
use a wax, it does what gel does with less flaking up and stiffness
11/3/2005 4:33:46 PM
Every time my hair starts feeling gross I put a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a bottle of water and I use it as a cleaning rinse. Keep rinsing with water until the smells out. (I use cholesterol with essential oils to condition though so the smell's never been a problem.) I have really fine, curly hair and I think it works great compared to commercial shampoos.[Edited on November 3, 2005 at 5:09 PM. Reason : clarity]
11/3/2005 5:09:04 PM
I have a friend with a little tiny mohawk. It's hot.
11/3/2005 5:11:56 PM
People who say guys shouldn't use anything at all don't undertand that some hairtypes stick straight out. If I took a shower and went straight to school, it would stand straight up and wave back and forth in the wind, which is pretty gay. Use some sort of paste wax. If you get the right kind, you can't even tell it's there.
11/3/2005 6:03:14 PM
^hahahah..I'm sure your hair still looks fine Aaron..even wavy and gay. Speaking of hair, I just got a hair cut...Razorcut bob. So easy.[Edited on November 3, 2005 at 6:55 PM. Reason : r]
11/3/2005 6:54:49 PM
this stuff works, but doesn't look like you have anything in, and it also doesn't make your hair stiff or sticky. I need to use something, but I HATE being able to feel or see it. Also, girls do not like running their hands through gelled hair. If I Couldn't get head scratches... shit.. I'd kill myselfhttp://www.folica.com/got2b_Playful_T_d1488.html
11/3/2005 9:09:05 PM
It really depend on the guy...like someone already stated. But I guess that could be fixed if you used the correct 'product'Oh and don't use so much that you get a grease slick plz.
11/3/2005 9:16:40 PM
use salon quality forming cream. use something pliable. it gives texture.
11/3/2005 9:45:54 PM
american crew variable hold spray
11/4/2005 8:38:25 AM
I'll vouch for that...easy stuff to use...makes ur hair kinda stiff, though. i look like a retard without anything in my hair.
11/4/2005 8:49:11 AM
This stuff works wonder's, and it only takes about the size of a dime to do it
