Cancun. If you cant have a blast there, then you don't need to even try to have fun because you are a fucking loser.

My family is headed down to Puerto Vallarta for Christmas. Haven't actually been yet, so I can't say whether it blows, but thats what my research turned up as a cool place to go.

i'm going to acapulco, ixtapa, puerto vallarta, cabo san lucas, and mazatlan next week. i'll let you know when i get back. been to cancun, cozumel, playa del carmen, etc. for partying on the atlantic side, i'd say cancun. i wasn't there to party so i went inland to merida, valladolid, and several smaller cities... lots of fun but a different type tho.

Ok, just got back from my trip. Cabo San Lucas - Very nice place to visit for 4-5 days. Not much more tho since it is a small town. There are a few bars but really this is a more family or even romantic spot. There are nice beaches and good snorkeling/diving. Great place for deep sea fishing. People are really nice, speak English somewhat, and the shops take the US $. Recently, there has been a lot of new construction so the town looks newer and is very nice. In 10 years, it will probably be over commercialized and crappy. Unfortunate really. Mazatlan - More industrial port city. Older buildings (lots of buildings built in the 70's). Decent beaches. Snorkeling.diving is not so hot. Some hot spots, bars, etc. The people were busy but nice. US $ is taken somewhat but have small bills ($10's). Travellers checks are a pain. Wouldn't reccommend this port unless is was a 1-day port on a cruise. Acapulco - Fantabulous port. Has everything you'd want. There is a Old Town with lots of beautiful architecture, good food, lots to see, cliff divers, etc. Isla Roqueta and the surrouding area has great snorkeling/diving. There are tons of bars and nightclubs. The resort district has modern all inclusives, nice beaches, restaurants, shopping, bars, everything. The bus system is great and is very cheap ($0.40 as opposed to a $12 taxi ride). Lots of shows, boat tours, jet skis, parasailing. Honestly, this port has the most to do, whether you want to sight see or party. People are very nice and helpful but do not speak a lot of English. And have pesos. They don't take US $'s as well but there are money changes all over. Zihuatanejo - Lovely older fishing town. Good snorkeling/shallow diving. People are pleasant, speak some English and can take US $. Not what I call a party town but over the mountain, there is Ixtapa. It is a resort town supposedly trying to be the Cancun of the Pacific. We didn't go there but a friend did and had a blast. Puerto Vallarta - Wonderful vacation spot. Tons of sight seeing and things to do. There aren't a lot of nightclubs but there are bars, shows, jungle tours, lovely beaches, and near Los Arcos, GREAT snorkeling/diving as that area is a nature preserve. Bus system is great and cheap. People are very nice and the US $ is accepted well. Lots of resorts and all inclusives. I could spend a lot of time there. Fun place for anyone.
