^^ I was just confused as a libertarian Once I started seeing what privatization would do to the environment, I ran away.

I still have alot of libertarian philosophies though, like less or no government, personal freedoms, etc. They're just environmentally based now.

This is a farce. Yes, it is called Black Friday, but it is not the busiest shopping day of the year. Its the biggest traffic day- families come out with all their relatives and visit with friends at malls and look at Christmas gifts, but the most BUYING does not occur then. The two Saturdays before Christmas usually top Black Friday in receipts.

winnar. Can't count the number of times the credit machines (back when they were dialup) wouldn't go through because it was so busy.

I just got through looking at the sales ads. I don't see anything good on sale that would make me go out at 4am.

Carolina Place Mall in Charlotte is open right now. Major department stores open at 5am ... bout 75% of the mall stores are open right now.

CompUSA got cleaned out, don't bother until they get a chance to restock later today.

That only really matters if you plan on getting your HD content over the air.

HD dig cable / prog scan dvds don't need it.

I have been shopping since 1am at Carolina Place Mall in Charlotte with my boyfriend's mom and 2 sisters!! (This is after Thanksgiving supper, hunting and cleaning a deer with the boyfriend, and NO sleep!) Worst decision of my life! They opened at 1, was there till about 4, then Kohl's at 5, the Bass Pro Shops at 6, Toys R Us at 7:30ish, SEARS at Carolina Mall till like 9. Then to the house to sleep till 12, then to Asheboro on the way to MY house to do a little more shopping and decorating the house with Mom. That has been my Black Friday. While it did suck, I saved an ass load of money on what I did buy-so I dont regret it too bed. Although I might when I get up to go hunting at 4:30 tomorrow morning!

I can't imagine being in a mall at 1am.
I'm in Kinston til tomorrow. Went my mom to Wal-Mart at 7am for some $55 sewing machine. They had 40 of them and were all gone when we got there. I can't imagine people going crazy over a sewing machine but when their's a good sale, I guess anything is up for grabs. Then went to Vernon Park Mall for a bit. Up to Target in Goldsboro. Then to the outlets in Smithfield. Outlets were crazy as usual on Black Friday. Did save alot of money though.

^^^^^^ Not my idea at all!!! lol

^^^^^Agreed indeed!!

I remember being at Target on Black Friday a few years ago when DVD players first came out. I think that was what we were going for, we got one, but a lot of people didnt. They were running and screaming about it, and waiting for people to leave their buggies to take one from them...It was bad. A few people toted ass whoopins!

In principle I agree ... I could do 4-5 customers a minute at my first job if they had cash ready in hand. But it also varies by store and merchandise being purchased. For CompUSA, I'd rather see somebody pay by card than have the cashier try to count out/mark $500+ in bills.

Shopping for jewelry at 2 in the morning was interesting. Was busy enough that I had a chance to take a good look at the merchanse without being hassled by salespeople.

^Depends on what you are getting.

So, today is "Cyber Monday". Anyone buying online today? The whole idea is pretty transparent. "Please, please, buy online today... please." I haven't looked for any online deals today. It's hard to start shopping when you don't know what you want to buy yet.

^^ I don't mind there being a line and it moving slowly because of credit, debit, checks (shudders) as long as there is one long queued up line served by several open registers - like they do at a bank. Nothing stinks worse than the scheme where you get in what looks like the shortest line only to find out that you got behind some guy that wants the service plan, a store credit card, or worse yet the guy that wants to argue price advertized orwhy the bill is ringing up for such and such. You feel lame when you are still in your short little line and the line next to you has moved three times the volume of people.

There was a cop at Best Buy in Garner to help with keeping people orderly (there were no problems, except people cutting in line).
