Does anyone else's cat drink with his paws? My cat always dips his paws in the water bowl and licks it off. He's such a weirdo.
11/1/2005 9:27:18 AM
mine does it too.then again, he'll also come when you call him, wag his tail, and lay on his stomach expecting to you rub it. I wouldnt be surprised if he barked.
11/1/2005 9:41:42 AM
^ my cat does all of that stuff...and i swear, when he's looking out the window at birds and squirrels, he makes this sound that is similar to a faint bark. he has a bell on his collar, and when he wants to get in a room and the door is shut, he'll pull his paw to his neck and ring his bell to let you know he wants in. he's a real attention whore...like if i'm in bed watching tv and not playing with him, he'll go to the window and rattle the blinds until i turn my attention to him.
11/1/2005 9:44:26 AM
^ I think that is something to do with a sensory gland.
11/1/2005 9:56:41 AM
yeah but your cat is fat
11/1/2005 10:13:53 AM
My cat is also fat and he definitely thinks he's a dog. He fetches and does all of the other things that have been listed here. Plus, he meows at the door and comes and gets us sometimes when someone is knocking. Cats are so weird :-)
11/1/2005 10:31:44 AM
what constitutes a 'fat cat'? i thought lennox was fat until i heard how much some of my friends' cats weigh. he's 13lbs with man kitty boobies.
11/1/2005 10:38:22 AM
I wish my cats were smart and cool
11/1/2005 10:43:06 AM
lennox is awesome. i love him.
11/1/2005 10:47:17 AM
Elijah, my cat, is 19 lbs. He's a porker. But he also has a large stature. I imagine a healthy weight for him would be ~15 lbs judging by how tall and long he is. He doesn't overeat or anythig like that and he runs around everywhere, so we're kinda confused as to where all of the extra weight comes from. But we just think of it as more of him to love.
11/1/2005 10:53:21 AM
Both of my cats dip their paw in the water bowl. After many sliding water bowl incidents (oftentimes ending in a water bowl that was flipped over), we bought a CatIt fountain...they like the waterfall so much that they don't bother dipping their paw in the reservoir

11/1/2005 12:38:19 PM
if you get a glass of milk (like a 1/2 size glass) and drink it until there is only a little puddle left, my cat will stick its paw in and lick it.but after she gets tired of that, she just jams her head into the glass. i'm waiting for her head to get stuck some day.
11/1/2005 12:40:08 PM
my kitty drinks w/ his paws too. he also pushes/pulls doors open by using the door knob (although he can't turn it). i guess he sees me always opening the door w/ the knob, so why shouldn't he? he also does the barking thing at the birds and squirrels. oh, and he beeps. his meow is so high pitched and so short that it sounds like an electronic beep.silly boy
11/1/2005 1:19:15 PM
my female cat chirps at the local wildlife (birds, squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, etc.)...it's most likely the same as the "cat bark" that was previously mentioned, but we always called it chirping. my male cat couldn't give a damn about wildlife, he prefers killing bugs and then re-killing them.^my male cat is similar in his meow, fairly high pitched, just not short...more like, "hehhhhhhhhhhhhhh" (say it in a high pitched voice) instead of "mrowwww"
11/1/2005 1:32:15 PM
^^cutey kitty. i think i want to go home and play with mine. work sucks and i'm bored out of my mind today.
11/1/2005 1:34:39 PM
my kitties chirp at the birds too, they'll sit at the window for hours watching the birds and talking to them. and Miss Cleo eats with her paws. she never eats directly out of the bowl, she puts her paw in and takes out a piece at a time, it's rather silly but Miss Peaches eats from the bowl and drinks from the bowl like a normal kitty. and BOTH of my cats are fat, and they lay around the apartment on their backs, with their paws in the air and their belly completely exposed. it's rather slutty actually....and Miss Cleo lays on the arm of the couch, straddling it with one leg on one side and one leg on the other. i've totally gotta get pictures of it one day
11/1/2005 2:05:48 PM
well monkey chirps too. his bark is different, it's rough, almost like a hack kind of.^^thank you he was the ugly duckling of the litter that i fostered. his eyes are still crossed though.
11/1/2005 3:52:14 PM
^ lennox's bark is a hack...and he was an ugly runt too. he looked like a moving brown turd. he had an awful infection as a kitten. his eyes were madded shut for weeks after i took him in. he suffered from anemia as well...so i had to give him an iron supplement. he's all better now though.
11/1/2005 3:59:40 PM
mine enjoy laying on their back, although Pete enjoys it moreso than his sister ...especially after getting some fresh catnip on the turbo scratcher[Edited on November 1, 2005 at 4:30 PM. Reason : .]

my cat plays fetchwill tell you 'no' if you lift her upand will talk back to you if you look at her and say anything
11/1/2005 5:28:10 PM
awwww meeester monkeeeHe's so cute when he dips his paw into the water.Too bad he likes to pee on things [Edited on November 1, 2005 at 5:54 PM. Reason : Its funny when you're taking a poop and you hear the door knob jiggle]
11/1/2005 5:53:37 PM
Our cats like to climb into my lap when I'm on the computer. They have a tendency of sliding out of them, though, so I have to hold them so they don't fall asleep and flop onto the floor.
11/1/2005 6:57:53 PM
hahahaww these are cute the vets told me fleabite was mean and "overly agressive"they have to sedate him almost everytime he goes[Edited on November 1, 2005 at 7:00 PM. Reason : clarification]
11/1/2005 6:59:55 PM
shit i think i need to get some animal tranqs. for my cat.
11/1/2005 7:06:19 PM
Only 1 of my 4 cats puts his paw in the water dish, and he gets half of the water on the floor, so we put a dish especially for him with a towel under it right next to the refrigerator. And every time you go to get water out of the fridge, he runs over and meows because he likes when you put ice cubes in the dish. Then he just sits and stares at them for a while
11/1/2005 7:13:19 PM
hopefully meestar monkay will be a better boy after the comfort zone cat pheromone stuff comes in.monkey and his foster sibling maplezoe and monkey play fighting

most cats dip paws into the water.my cat used to fetch when he was a kitten.he sticks his paws under the door and rattles it to get attention (get in and out).that reminds me, i need to get him a fountain.

yeah i know i feed my cat too much. it started when he was a kitten and the package said to let them eat as much as they wanted.he gets about a dry cup a day, doesn't eat the whole cup.i'm going to start reducing his intake to either a 1/2 or 3/4 cup a day and see how that works.i know he'll freak out though.
11/2/2005 3:53:51 PM
Cat weight can vary depending on certain factors. Below is an excerpt from an article on cat weight (http://www.thecatsite.com/Cats/Cat_Health/Fat_Cats.html)

Elijah ges about 1/2 cup of dry food a day and that's it. He doesn't have an endless supply of food, nor has he ever in the two years that we have had him. We got him as a full-grown cat and he has neither gained nor lost any weight in the past 2 years (and we keep close tabs on him). Also, he is very tall and long, so 15 lbs. would easily be normal weight for him if not more. Furthermore, he runs all over the place constantly, especially up and down the stairs. He is a very active cat. And finally, our vet thinks that he is completely healthy. He's just a big dude with a good amount of belly and I love him
11/3/2005 2:11:13 PM
Our new kitten we got from Joie dips his paws in his water bowl. I'm not sure how, but he manages to dip all four paws and not get anything but his paws wet. The first day we had him, he came and jumped in my lap on the couch and his paws were wet...all 4 paws. At first I was like wtf is there something wet on the floor, then a few hours later I caught him doing the "water dance" in which he strategically turns around in a circle dipping his paws.

most cats are overweight. face it they are lazy. but how can I get my boy to be more active? his gut hangs when he walks..hehehe. i feed 1/4 cup twice a day. he always meows at me like he is hungry & wants more. His favorite thing is getting into my foster dog's food when she doesn't finish it. Aww he is a cute lil piggy though!
11/5/2005 10:15:51 AM
my cat splashes water all over the floor and walls when she does this...it makes me angry

We feed our two cats Eknumba sp? Weight Control Indoor Formula and it has helped keep one of our cats at the proper weight and the other one has lost a little bit of weight. We also go them seperate bowls and that helped a little bit.

My cat does this too. I don't really call it drinking, but self-cleaning.He has a habit of drinking from the toilet if I forget to close the lid.
11/6/2005 7:59:20 PM
I bought a laser pointer... my cats love it!I just pick it up (its one of those key chain ones) and they perk up and come towards me. I've gotten Peaches to run in a circle for minutes on end. My fat boy will only run a little bit, then lie down and wait till its near him.
11/10/2005 1:40:15 AM
Every cat I've seen likes laser pointers with exception of mine. He's like, "yeah it's a fucking light on the ground good job now stfu and let's play fetch."
