I recently got a Logitech MX1000 laser mouse for my computer. It works great in a regular windows environment in terms of doing exactly what I want it to do. Whenever I play a game, however, I am unable to assign commands to the extra mouse buttons for specific tasks. Take for example Battlefield 2. My previous mouse was a simple two button/scroll wheel mouse so I only used the two buttons to shoot and zoom, and the scroll wheel to change weapons. This new mouse has like 9 total buttons on it (not including the scroll wheel). Whenever I try to assign the other buttons to a command, it inherently minimizes the game and tries to perform the window function. For example, the new mouse has a button above and below the scroll wheel which is used in windows environments to "cruise" up and down. I wanted to change this so that when I pushed one, it would switch to the knife weapon without having to scroll up to it in-game. Whenever I go to options -> redefine controls, it doesn't recognize the button when I actually try to assign it. Then once I go in game, if I push the button, the game minimizes and it tries to scroll.I do have the latest drivers for the mouse and the latest version of BF2. Any ideas?

yeah theres a setting you have to turn on for "game mode" for the MX1000 in the logitech settings.
