the other night he referred to tayshaun prince as one of the best open court shot blockers ever
12/6/2005 11:46:51 PM
he isprince has had 2 of the most incredible blocks i've ever seen...both were him tracking down a guy who had a wide open layup in transition...i hate walton, but he's right about that
12/6/2005 11:51:36 PM
i do remember those blocks and they were incredible but that does not make him one of the best ever imo
12/7/2005 1:24:07 AM
its waltons trademarked catch phrase to say x ever, x of all time, x in the history of y over anything so dont take it serious
12/7/2005 1:31:03 AM
^ that was the point

I think you either "get" Bill Walton or you don't. If you do, you realize he's hilarious and part of that is b/c his style and sense of humor is unique. If you don't, then you just want to hear some boring mundane guy tell you what you can already see. "Bryant just missed another shot". Really? No shit. I'd rather hear "Does Kobe Bryant have a permit to build houses in this district" "That was horrrrrrible"One of my fav quotes by him was when a guy was dribbling close to halfcourt. He was trying to get by the guy with about 10 different moves and it was very impressive but the defender kept him in front of him and in check. The announcer said something like, whoa what a move that was incredible. Walton didn't flinch and said "Never mistake activity for achievement" Thats a great line.
12/7/2005 2:25:40 PM
That line reminds me of seeing Kenny Smith get used on a play a year or 2 ago in a charity event. Guy crossed him up in the lane and went for the layup...but it rolled out. They kept showing it and Barkley was giving him hell for it. It might have been that nSync guy, can't remember. Kenny responded by saying, "The operation was a success, but the patient died anyway."
12/7/2005 2:27:38 PM
Throw it down big man, throw it down...
12/7/2005 2:45:25 PM
btttCuz I want more. I'm thoroughly enjoying these quotes, but I don't watch a lot of NBA, so I haven't seen/heard him in action. MORE WALTON QUOTES
12/9/2005 12:07:19 AM
Walton absolutely hates NC State to this day because of the championship we took from them.
12/9/2005 12:13:21 AM
you're joking right, he has nothing but respect for DT and us, in fact, he wrote the preface to "Skywalker"
12/9/2005 12:29:25 AM
12/9/2005 12:48:02 AM
Tayshaun is simply famous for that block on Reggie in the playoffs. And it's great when the TNT guys show that clip when Reggie is around doing announce work, or is in the studio
12/9/2005 1:27:12 AM
Apparently, you can't back down an opponent underneath the free throw line for more than five seconds, Lebron got called for it.Commentator A: that's the first time I've seen that called this yearWalton: that's the first time I've seen it called this centuryThe nets promptly sink two baskets givng them the 4 point lead and walton says "and the second youngest coach in the league is forced to cal a timeout."
