i grew up going to a southern baptist churchthey're fucktards[Edited on October 30, 2005 at 9:59 PM. Reason : *]

the best part is that most baptists drink anyway
10/30/2005 10:03:20 PM
so, was it really necessary for A-B to put their damned logo on the bottles...but really, is it a big freaking deal either way? News flash: the super crazy radical SBC types don't want to be associated with beer. woopty frickin do!
10/30/2005 10:31:54 PM
they probably just went from bottling beer to water at their plant
10/30/2005 10:40:03 PM
10/30/2005 10:42:05 PM
i'd imagine that they would find it pretty easy to find a label-less set of bottles to use...
10/30/2005 10:44:09 PM
10/30/2005 10:44:45 PM
the big deal is that they are refusing to hand out water to people who need water from the hurricane. they're putting their ideals over people's wellbeing.
10/30/2005 10:49:58 PM
10/30/2005 11:01:04 PM
The article doesnt say they pretended to be out of water or anything like that. So I assume they had plenty of water to go around and they just chose not to hand out that particular supply.
10/30/2005 11:13:43 PM
Then that would be just as stupid as being a Christian, which is pretty stupid but not as abhorrent as denying a thirsty person water because you're a mindless sheep.
10/30/2005 11:16:41 PM
im not a mindless sheepin fact my church encourages using your mind to think about issues for yourself[Edited on October 30, 2005 at 11:28 PM. Reason : V its a pcusa church and you dont understand christianity very well]
10/30/2005 11:18:06 PM
Meaning your church is secular. Because a truly religious church wouldn't tell you to think about the issues yourself. Because the truth according to DJ JC is already in the Bible. But let's save it for another thread.
10/30/2005 11:19:58 PM
oh and btw:I have no problem with the obvious marketing ploy, but that might have been there reason every bit as much any hang ups about alcohol, still sort of stupid. I just dont like the way the article is obviously playing up the issue when it probably wasnt that big of a deal. [Edited on October 30, 2005 at 11:23 PM. Reason : ]

This picture makes them look even worse. They could have easily mentioned all their beer brands. I mean, they are giving shit for free. I'd rather have that than them not being able to donate anything for the fear of upsetting the shareholders (who maybe very compassionate on the personal level, but would not want the company they own to just give shit away).I mean, can you seriously imagine that there was a single person who was thirsty enough to stand in line for a can of water going: "wow, the shit's good. gotta gets myself their beer, too." WTF? How come stupidity is somehow elevated to something acceptable once it's for religious reasons?
10/30/2005 11:29:02 PM
well its not my original theory but i still dont see the problem

10/30/2005 11:37:08 PM
Dude, we're talking about people who just had all their shit washed away in the ocean, and have nothing to drink. They aren't receptive to any advertizing. Don't equate them to yourself hanging around in Walmart bored out of your fucking mind. And it's not like the news made headlines. I do't see why it should not have been reported at all. It's pretty curious. Hardly the most interesting news that day, but nobody claimed it was.
10/31/2005 1:40:45 AM
its a non-story with a sensationalist headline and questionable reporting. IMO it reflects worse on the news agency than the SBC

Maybe you guys need to examine yourself here. I am certainly not "religious" but I do understand the basis of many religions, with SBC being one of them. The SBC has a very strong moral stand against alcohol companies, which I am sure you know. They have a very rigid set of beliefs that they refuse to back down from, and I think that is honorable. Hypothetically, let's say that an abortion agency or a child pornography manufacturer or Osama Bin Laden decided to donate water with an image on the front of the container for everyone to see. I am sure that would rub some of you the wrong way. Regardless of what it is, I am sure there is some kind of image that would be truly offensive to any individual. It just so happens that for the SBC, this is one of those things that they have chosen to take a stand on and will not back down.IMO, it's quite admirable. If you believe in something (or against something), you should maintain your beliefs at all times, not just when it's convenient or easy. If I recall correctly there is a story about Jesus being tempted in the wilderness by Satan but resisting the temptation, and I'm sure that example is a big part of why the SBC chooses not to back down.Keep in mind too, that's it's not like these people were dying and they were sitting back watching. I'm sure if they were on their deathbed they'd probably just redistribute the water in a different container. I really don't know the situation well enough to make a really informed hypothesis. All I do know is that people shouldn't jump to immediately hate any religion just because they are taking a stand against something they believe very strongly in.

Person A: I think that <insert bullshit>.Person B: Bullshit! How can you say that? That's obviously wrong. WTF?Person A: I'm a Christian, and we Christians think that <insert bullshit>Person B: Is this bullshit very rigid? It's not like you'd say this bullshit now and later will correct yourself. You'll keep repeating this bullshit over and over, right? Person A: It's very rigid. We never back away from our bullshit.Person B: Wow! That's admirable!

I can't believe this really happened. It's sad.Who gives a crap that they put there name on the cans.Obviously they always have a surplus of cans and water at the Budweiser factory. Who wouldn't want to promote the fact that they were donating to a humanatarian relief effort if they were a large corporation.
10/31/2005 8:37:45 PM
they should have poured the water into a different containerand blessed itend of argument

Its not bullshit to decline to give out the water donated by AB for religious beleifs. No body died or was harmed because of it. I'm assuming they had other water to give out. What is curious is all the christian haters that surface when ever you think you'll get a chance to show how "stupid and sheep like" they are. It seems you could have picked a better topic than this. You christian haters are grasping at straws with this one....and I may be mistaken, but I thought the US blew off the aid Cuba offered to hurricane victims...not based on religious beliefs, but political I suppose. Was that wrong? Come on christian haters, you can do better!!
10/31/2005 10:45:12 PM
im a christian and i hate christian haters and i still think this is pretty fucking stupid and is a good example with what is wrong with many of todays christians
10/31/2005 10:57:28 PM
^^ this is one of the worst arguments in the history of arguments.A is like B.you protested A, but not B, therefore your protest of A is invalid.
