i like to use executive software diskeeper. i've had it for a long time now and i use it on both my computers. works like a charm with a good display of fragmented vs not fragmented, etc.

its at 15 percent now

i think i'm gonna defrag it like 10 times so all the fragments left when its done will get unfragmented

ok fuck this its on pace to finish in like 12 hours, i'm gonna restart in safe mode and see if it goes quicker and put its priority to like realtime or above average

[Edited on October 29, 2005 at 10:08 PM. Reason : damn it was only at 22 percent and harddrive made loud ass noise as i restarted it]

i would highly recommend this program, it's options include a scheduled defrag as well as real-time (idle) defrag, and it gets the job done every time if there are no bad sectors and with 20-25% free space it will completely defrag (and pending your swap file is on a separate drive)

it will also take a much longer time to defrag if the disk is nearly full, around 10-15% free space or less, depending on the program you're using to do the job.
