The kid deserves his own thread. 248 yards on 32 carries (7.75 average per carry) with 2 TDs and almost broke the single game rushing record for an NC State running back set by Ted Brown. Simply put, a beast of a game.

ummm....

he had 248 yards against a C-USA team

he deserves praise cause he was nasty and its threadworthy....

but he could do this for the next 4 weeks and he still wouldnt be a heisman contender this year

maybe thats why no one believed...?

i imagine he woulda struggled against VT, Clemson, GT, etc as well

He's completely fresh after sitting the bench all year... defensive players are banged up and worn down 7 games into the season.

Wait until we see what he does against FSU/UMD/etc before you annoit him a heisman winner.

If he was a heisman type player he woulda been higher on the depth chart in preseason.

Besides, its silly to predict a guy to win the heisman thats on an awful team with a lot of depth at RB.

He had 0% chance of winniing the award this year... you should have mentioned him in a sleeper thread or something, not a heisman one

That negro would have the record if it weren't for a phantom holding call. Oh well though, we got to run some more time off the clock and scored a touchdown anyway. That fucker is faster than I thought he would be....GG ANDRE

toney baker should see the bench for awhile at this pt

he fumbles more than TA w/out as good of an excuse. not to mention he never showed the talent TA showed.

TB is our 2nd best running back. He is better than Blackman with our shitty o-line...just not as fast. Brown was just SICK today though. After watching this, you cant deny that he is probably #1. He's a perfect combo of size/strength and speed. He's faster than TA was...looks like he holds on to the ball well, and can break a tackle too. He was fun to watch today.

I agree that Baker needs to sit though for a game or 2. There's no reason for us to leave ANY of our backs in the game if they're gonna fumble.

he still needs to work on catching the ball out of the backfield though. once he does that he's the complete RB.

Brown and Baker should both be in the backfield. One could run left, the other right, and the defense simply hoping they get lucky.

I think that might be the focus of practice this week for EVERYONE. We dropped a bunch of them.

but there have been a lot of passes dropped all season. you think that is gonna miraculously change in a week?

i mean it could for him since this was the first game that he was being thrown to, but i dont think much will change for everyone else. at least not because they dropped the passes this game.

shit, TJ has dropped a ton of passes this season.

I didnt say it would change in a week, but im sure they will work on it more this week...it just seems like its been worse the past 2 games. We finally got the penalties under control, time to move on in practice.

we need two-back sets with Davis and Blackman or Davis and Brown...either way, we need to rotate those three guys because they all deserve to play

We gave TA the benefit of the doubt for well over a year. Everybody thought he was the fucking man after his freshman year. And it wasn't just the fumbling that shattered our faith in TA. It was the permanent spot on the injury list as well.

I really can't agree with this. Toney Baker is a damn good running back...but he hasn't shown me that he's any better than Blackman. And the fact that he puts the ball on the turf makes it easy to say Blackman is the better back.

It's great to have so many good running backs because we don't have to worry about a drop off in talent when we take the guy out who fumbles. That's what sucked with TA. He could fumble all day long, but we couldn't take him out because we didn't have a capable backup (although I would have liked to see BWash and Blackman get more carries last year).

I'd like to see Baker fix that fumbling problem and we can rotate him and Brown at the tailback positioin. Then move Blackman out to WR (because we really don't have any playmakers out there and he has great hands), and hopefully next year Washington (if he doesn't transfer) can take Hall's place.

did you read the rest of the post? I said he should sit out for a game or 2 because of the fumbles. Blackman likes to put it on the ground too, he just doesn't get as many carries from the backfield. Hell, he fumbled that kickoff return in the second half too.

^Yes...point is...even without the fumbles, I don't see how anyone can clearly say that Baker is better than Blackman. Blackman has shown me just as much as Baker has.

And I don't recall Blackman fumbling that much in the backfield. Yes...he does fumble a lot on punt and kickoff returns...but take him off KO and PR, not out of the backfielf for that.

But Baker is putting it on the turf WAY too much. It's getting to the point where you hold you breath when they hand off the ball (hello TA).

The gap is not big, I just think the fact that Baker is stronger and breaks more tackles helps us out more than Blackman can. With a shitty o-line, you have to put a back in that can break tackles...thats what i'm basing my theory on.

Just look at Andre yesterday...he broke a shitload of tackles...difference is that he has the strength AND speed. Too bad he cant catch a screen pass, although his 24 yard diving catch was pretty nasty.

baker and brown are our top two backs. if tiki barber can fix his fumbling problem, so can baker. now all we need is to get tom coughlin down here and...

ok maybe not, but he's still one of our 2 best backs from sheer talent alone. i was impatient with TA because he started doing this after 2 years of playing time and experience. baker is still fresh and prone to mistakes, and i'm more willing to give a freshman the benefit of the doubt than i am a junior that seems to have no work ethic.

Of course, Brown wasn't the only one dropping screens, TJ dropped one or two as well, SO, was it the recievers, or the Passer? haha, actually, it doesn't matter who it is, we need to fix it!

Blackman should definitely NOT be taken off of returns.

Have you forgotten that he was basically our only offense against Clemson?

TJ dropped more than just screens. He dropped almost everything that was thrown to him. I think he had what, one catch and he was thrown to like 10 times?

blackman is the #2 kickoff return man in the country. of course a large portion of those yards came against clemson. he is #87 in punt returns. a lot of that has to do with us almost always going for the block (even though we rarely get it) instead of providing some kinda blocking for him.

Wow, those are some pretty impressive numbers. Nice job.

Williams' lack of catches was something I noticed yesterday, too. Seemed weird just because he's been such a big target for Jay--maybe he just needs some more time to adjust to Stone's throwing?

Its really wierd that TJ is having trouble catching the ball right now. He has made some of the most ridiculous catches over the past 2 seasons when he's been hung out to dry. Maybe its just a lack of concentration because we all know he has the ability. Seems to me like our guys are trying to hard to make a play, because when i look up at the replay it always looks like they tried to run before they secured the catch.

I can't say I blame them because our offense is pretty inept right now, but there is still no excuse.

it's weird that he actually got used to Davis' passes and can't get comfortable with Stone's?

I've noticed this all season...he can catch Jay's just fine

but put marcus in and it's not the same

just another reason to keep Jay in

I think its that he enjoys getting hung out to dry over the middle and Stone has not put him in that situation yet. His concentration level isnt as high when he knows the ball will be put on the money.

damn, how would you like to make your first start at FSU? That fucker better come to play. Those linebackers are a little better than USM's. Of course he ran the ball down D. Nicholson's throat in that State championship game 2 years ago, and he was one of the best linebackers in the country in high school.
