Trying to fix up the g/f's system up a bit so she doesn't have to buy a new one. Just ordered some memory for cheap and was wondering if anybody has had any experience with refilling laptop batteries. Looking at http://www.batteryrefill.com/ specifically, and they are quoting a price about 1/2 of what a new replacement would cost. She does a lot of lab work, and an AC outlet isn't always available at the most convinient of places.Thoughts/comments?

umm dudere-celling is ghettoand not to mention that you don't wanna mess with the batteries. What if they explode while you're keeping the laptop on your lap.

If the current batteries suck, get new ones. When it come to powering your computer, either laptop or desktop, don't cheap out on the one part that can break all the rest.

Refilling laptop batteries has to be about the most stupid idea I have ever heard. It seems like at least one OEM has to issue a recall every year for brand new batteries that catch fire or explode. I can't imagine how this can be all that safe."I have burns all over my lap from battery acid but I saved money!!"wtf.edit:

^Thanks, was looking for some technical insight as to why it was good/bad. Battery exploding or catching fire on my g/f's lap is bad ... no sex for awhile $100 is too much for a new battery, just have to wait for a new laptop.

I wouldn't do it. Refilling ink isn't toxic and dangerous as batteries are. Too much of a change of something going wrong. Laptop batteries are one thing you should just buy new and avoid the problems. Also try to see if a Lithium Ion is available. Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) doesn't last half as long and takes a lot longer to charge. It costs a bit more but lasts longer and lots of other reasons. What laptop is it (model and manufacturer).

^Who says I can't? Please contribute something useful to the thread ... don't be like gargs.^^KDS Valiant 6380iPTD, presuming she had a NiMH to start with ... dunno exactly cuz she took it out.

so basically.... better off probably just buying a new laptop than buying all these little upgrades.oh, and don't fuck around with the battery, kk thanks

^^^Still works with the AC adapter.^$50 in memory wasn't too bad. Another $50 on the battery would have been nice. Ideally, the laptop will still find use with another family member after she gets a new one (whenever that might be).
