for some reason ill be doing stuff on my computer and it will just randomly shut down on me,
I have an IBM thinkpad T42 runing XP pro service pack1. Its done it at least 4 times, and the second time it happened when i tried to start my comp i got a blue screen error saying that the boot file couldnt befound so i had to do a repair using the XP disk

any guesses as to whats causeing the problems and what i can do to fix it?

Does it reboot or power off when this happens?

go to system properties in control panel and select advanced and startup and recovery settings. uncheck auto restart and check write an event and send an admin alert.

then when it happens again check windows event viewer in the admin tools section of control panel for any programs causing it.

also run a program like motherboard monitor that logs temps and refer to them after your next crash.
