Can you plug a wireless router into a regular, wired router's port and have it work?

typically turn off the wireless router's dhcp and use the one your are plugging into

never done this before myself, but i imagine you'd want to do some additional configuration on the two routers as well (maybe setting a static route between the routers for instance), and sometimes low-budget routers will have a 'act as a router or gateway' option (in which case the router directly connected to the internet would be the 'gateway', and the other router would be a 'router', although the terms are usually synonymous). these are just possibilities, you might not have to do anything (i've never done this before).also, some people might tell you to use a crossover cable, but because of how the pins on the WAN port are set on most low-budget routers, this shouldn't be necessary.

so pryderi what jimb0 is saying is that he's never tried this and is offering no real advise - merely horrible speculation - ignore his post

Ok. Basically, I want the wireless router to function as a switch by disabling the DHCP?

You can have them both do DHCP, but it will be less of a mess to disable one.

I have my main Vonage router hooked up to the RR modem then have my wireless linked up off of that and it works fine
