Is this a fucking ad?
10/26/2005 7:56:12 PM
what about the nomad muvo line
yea. The muvo was pretty much a shuffle. It just came out like 2 years ahead of time.
10/26/2005 7:58:24 PM
except for that whole two piece design which sucked ass.
10/26/2005 8:05:25 PM
no, it's a thread about how people are sucked in by apple's marketing to believe whatever they dish out and think it's the hottest product on the market.i'm merely pointing out that dell has added two major features that apple left out and imho it's far superior of a product especially considering the price is the same...it's more like the zen nano plus than the nomad muvo[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 9:03 PM. only product of dell i like is my 24" widescreen ultrasharp monitor. that is all.And personally i don't put stock in commercials of any kind. I mean look at dell, their commercials are all focused around celeron POS. Apples advertising had 0 influence on me when i bought my ipod. It was more of a "hey whats this thing? ooooh nice, thats a neat looking mp3 player. I think i'll buy it and see how well it functions" ....1 month later..."happy i bought that ipod...best mp3 player i've owned" ....9 months later "damn, this ipod is even better than i thought. goes great with my new headunit"
10/26/2005 9:18:18 PM
does it double as a lighter? looks as though it should
10/26/2005 9:21:17 PM
looks like it should be burned by one though.
10/26/2005 9:21:43 PM
I deal with Dells all day long and it is amazing how uninspired and badly designed a lot of their shit is. I can't understand how such crap can be so popular.
10/26/2005 9:22:29 PM
yeah, we had more dells than anything else. And they are a pain in the ass to take apart sometimes. The worst is the 'slim' case design that opens up in-half so you can work on it. They tried taking the G4's design and fubared it
10/26/2005 9:23:50 PM
^ yes ...Most of their designs are badly laid out and very difficult to work in. They all look like off-shelf components crammed anywhere they will fit.

it's simple...apple sucks and is only for people with more money than brains

10/26/2005 11:32:39 PM
^i would agree with that as well... but i just can't buy into the "life is random, so is your music" slogan or whatever it is, pure marketing to get around a design 'practicality' flaw
10/26/2005 11:44:14 PM
The Shuffle is lame, I agree. It's the cheapest for the size though. You are even more lame for creating this thread, however.I love Apple though because they are the only company that would dedicate most of their front page to an American hero: http://www.apple.com/[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 11:48 PM. 10/27/2005 12:09:10 AM
moron, there's a difference between hating the company apple and hating the brand of apple, the apple design (mostly) and company is great, the brand and everything it stands for in society is what i hate, they've (read:society) taken a design icon and made it into a status icon, it's to the point in which society doesn't even think any more they just assume everything apple is of high worth... and in the case of the ipod shuffle and flawed nano, it's absolutly not.though i am upset at apple the company for the nano cover up and poor design of ipod shuffle... moron i wasn't referring to you earlier, but there are a lot of people that do jump on the bandwagon and there are a lot of apple patriots out there that have been with apple a long time and figure that anything they dish out is the best thing since sliced bread, but just like any company, it has a couple hiccups, it's how you deal with those hiccups is what matters... if its such a poor design then don't buy it. no ones forcing you to.
10/27/2005 12:24:43 AM
i didn't buy it, i got mine for free, then sold it to some unfortunate soul who paid 140% retail for it on ebay because it was apple's *hottest* product at the time.
10/27/2005 12:26:52 AM
What Nano cover up are you referring to, btw?The mp3 player market was stagnant before the iPod. Apple released a great mp3 player in to a market that was already established (before the iPod, i liked a lot of iRiver's stuff-- and still do), and rose to the top. People obviously saw something in the iPod that other players lacked (and still lack), which is a simple, appealing design with a simple interface (1 scroll wheel, 4 buttons). It's because of this reason the iPod remains so successful. Other players outclass the iPod for extraneous features, but none outclass it for ease-of-use or looks, which is what most consumers look for. The fringe end of consumers who love Windows, and like to tweak their computers (the kind of people to buy an iRiver, and replace the firmware...) are not going to like the iPod. Apple can't cater to everyone, and they don't.

If any company made an mp3 player skinnier than a #2 pencil, have a black shiny surface, and have an easy to use scroll weel + 4 buttons I would be all over it. a lot of what apple does isn't necessarily innovative--it just takes a little bit from different companies, and puts it together to make an attractive product. Kind of like how Bungie succeeded with the Halo franchise by not necessarily innovating elements but just taking the best parts of other games and creating a high polished, high refined product
10/27/2005 6:40:36 AM
Apple gets props for the Rosa Parks memorial on their home page. That is just fucking awesome, hands down.
10/27/2005 8:53:08 AM
10/27/2005 9:18:05 AM
lolequating halo to the ipod is actually a fantastic comparisonneither are innovative and both are overrated.the iPod's success is pure marketing combined with apple fanboi hype
10/27/2005 9:30:06 AM
I really want the iPod UI to have an alphabet selection option. Hard to drive and scroll through Artists when I could have just scrolled to P and then through a couple artists to find the one I want.
10/27/2005 10:26:04 AM
Halo is based off of Bungies prior work Marathon, a mac only FPS. Microsoft bought bungie and bungie releases HALO. And I've notice a lot of "It sucks because it is popular" bullshit in here.
10/27/2005 10:33:00 AM
if you thought halo was good you're either an idiot or a console gamer.or maybe a lolmacgamer

well, I don't think that is the gist.for example, speaking of speakers, Bose is pretty popular. They are making good money. You don't see any other "better" speaker manufacturers making that kind of cash. And yet, everyone keeps saying Bose products suck.[Edited on October 27, 2005 at 12:34 PM. Bose speakers do suck. they are cheaply made and only sound good to an untrained ear. if you turn the bass up and play something loud, a lot of people get impressed.i don't like the ipod, but not because it is a poorly made product. even the problems with scratching i'm sure are not because apple was trying to save a few bucks. i just agree that they are too much of a status symbol. there are better products out there, but everyone just wants the ipod because it's cool.
10/27/2005 12:51:14 PM
10/27/2005 12:54:47 PM
i agree people buy Bose because its the name they know, so of course it must be good!Bose are not the worst ever, and i'm some of their products are better than others... but some of their stuff is real crap.

the shuffle blows.I won a free 512 mb one at a trade show and gave it to my gf because she didn't have any portable MP3 player at the time.Thing is, I had to install iTunes on my computer to make it work, and having to deal with that shitty piece of shit fucking crap software is worth every inch of wrath I can lay upon Apple. I've never been an Apple fan, and the shuffle just justified my feelings. In short, here's why: (Comparing to my personal music solution)I don't need to convert my songs to add them to my Treo/SD card. I don't have to use iTunes. I can add DRM music to my treo, can't do it on the shuffle. On top of that, the speed of transferring the music to the SD card is SO MUCH faster than the shuffle.
10/27/2005 1:16:42 PM
^ What format is your music in that you need to convert it to have it play on an iPod?
10/27/2005 1:58:45 PM
if you think something that sounds bad sounds good to you, that's fine... but i wouldn't go around saying they're great sounding speakers. if you're buying them for their looks, then i guess it doesn't much matter how they sound.
