Okay come on all you car nerds I have been thinking about getting the new Honda Accord v-6 hybrid any suggestions? Also are parts expensive on these hybrid cars? Also any other hybrids you car nerds would suggest? Feel free to share stories good and bad I really want to do some research before making this large of a purchase.

not worth the cost over a comparable gas model. you'll never make the money back in gas savings unless you own the car for 120k miles or so.
10/26/2005 3:11:27 PM
^ and at that point, its time to drop $5k on new batteries.why did you want the hybrid over the regular v6?[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:17 PM. Reason : ....]
10/26/2005 3:16:02 PM
well I currently have a V-6 98 Accord which I love but the gas mileage sucks and I thought the hybrids were better on gas.
10/26/2005 3:18:02 PM
^^gas?[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:18 PM. Reason : asdfa]
10/26/2005 3:18:25 PM
so get a 4-cylinder.
10/26/2005 3:22:46 PM
didn't we discuss this ad-nauseum about a month ago?
10/26/2005 3:28:23 PM
^indeed we did, to get the point accross for those who didn't see it:according to a recent car and driver report, you have to drive 65k miles per year over the course of 5 years if you were to buy a prius instead of a corrola.[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:29 PM. Reason : ]
10/26/2005 3:28:37 PM
Hybrids ain't worth it right now.
10/26/2005 3:30:05 PM
I dont like 4 cylinders need a little more power
10/26/2005 3:30:09 PM
^^^ i thought the point was "buy a diesel". that was my point, at least.[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:31 PM. Reason : 5]
10/26/2005 3:30:37 PM
4 cylinders have enough power for day to day commuting.besides all hybrids have 4 cylinders or less...although true that the batteries provide some torque.ok...you're talking about the V6 hybrid...I don't see how that'd save gas.[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:34 PM. Reason : .]

10/26/2005 3:33:14 PM
gargs, stfu idiot. she's asking about the v6 hybrid (did you even read)and she's saying she doenst like it b/c it doesnt feel like it has enough power.. personal preferences.. not whether it will actually move.and here's the old thread:http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=350703
10/26/2005 3:33:59 PM
yea I just noticed she said V6 hybrid...But I am not sure if the V6 hybrid is gonna be any good on gas...if that's your goal...[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:35 PM. Reason : bastard]
10/26/2005 3:34:45 PM
What I am looking for really is a V6 car that is reliable like my current accord but something that maybe be a little bit lighter in cost at the gas pump.
10/26/2005 3:36:11 PM
true.. if you think 4-cylinders are underpowered, you arent going to be running on only electricity very much. changing your driving habits can increase mileage drastically.[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:36 PM. Reason : ^ power/gas cost... its a tradeoff... you get one or the other.]
10/26/2005 3:36:23 PM
the money u waste selling ur accord for this new hybrid could be put to use at the gas pump. stop complaining.
10/26/2005 3:38:23 PM
ok I am seriously curious...does the extra $20-$30 at the gas pump every month really such a big deal for someone who strives to drive a brand new Honda Accord V6?
10/26/2005 3:38:26 PM
i'm gonna agree with gargs on this one
10/26/2005 3:40:04 PM
me too.. (never thought i'd say it, tho)
10/26/2005 3:40:47 PM
I mean I drive a beatup girly V6 Mustangand it gives me like 15 miles to a gallon and yet I don't think it's a big deal...especially when I have to top it up like 2 times a week.
10/26/2005 3:41:10 PM
10/26/2005 3:41:45 PM
15? really? that's not very good at all...my car has a 2.8 6-cylinder and i average (mixed city/hwy) around 23[Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:42 PM. Reason : and i had a 4.0L in my ranger and i was getting like 20ish.]
10/26/2005 3:42:31 PM
well, officially 1995 Mustang is 17 in city and like 23 in highway
10/26/2005 3:43:09 PM
Thanks guys! Fyi I do not strive to have a brand new car but it was what my parents suggested and since they are helping me out I am just trying to find the best bang for the buck.
10/26/2005 3:44:19 PM
You are terribly mistaken if you think buying a brand new car gives you the "best bang for your buck"
10/26/2005 3:44:55 PM
1 to 2 yr old used car
10/26/2005 3:46:56 PM
exactly
10/26/2005 3:47:28 PM
^^^if all the maintenance is paid for its a good deal.and finally
10/26/2005 4:14:25 PM
10/26/2005 4:24:27 PM
The V6 accord doesnt really save enough gas to justify the extra cost. If you were getting a civic hybrid and you took advantage of all the available tax credits on hybrid vehicles, then you might save some money.
10/27/2005 12:18:10 PM
i just got a new accord that's not a hybrid and get 23 city and 30 highway....my last accord ('01) i got just a little less than that after i had it a couple of years. the accord ex v6 hybrids start around 30k which doesn't seem worth it
10/27/2005 1:29:33 PM
yeah, the most savings wont be with a new vehiclemy 95 accord gets about 30 just driving it around here in raleigh. Road trips are like 35 depending on how fast i'm driving and if i have windows open, etc.oh yeah, and it was only like 2 grand.
10/27/2005 4:11:44 PM
NO they cost to much to work onbuy a vw tdi if you want the mileage run your car on e85 if you wanna save the environment
10/27/2005 4:23:19 PM
while i'm rantingPeople things you need to know... hybrid cars don't majically make power it all comes from the gas motor @ some time or another and since there is no 100% efficient way to make electricity from a mechanical motion or to convert any energy into anyother form of energy for that matter they are actually less efficient. It is basically a slow fucking car that uses an electic motor almost like n2o to give you more power when you need it. They are also heavier than normal cars due to the ass-ton of batteries in them.If you want to have good gas mileage buy a regular car that is just as slow as the hybrid and the same size and save your money or buy a diesel. the only effiecency you gain when you have a hybrid is the energy taken from the car's braking
10/27/2005 7:57:30 PM
I think the fratties in this thread and the XX chromosomes are going for the higher HP of the V6 hybridalone.
