Tryin to take my girlfriend out for our anniversary and she's always wanted to go here. What's the atmosphere, prices, food, and dress like?
10/26/2005 12:03:06 AM
i've been ther ea few times - dress is anything from shorts and a t-shirt to suit and tie - mostly it's more on the dressy side - atmosphere isn't too pretentious - prices are definitely reasonablegreat date place - pretty sure it has high citysearch ratings also

they def changed the menu to be more upscale as compared to when they first openedi went there maybe a month ago and they had no more burgers
10/26/2005 12:47:18 AM
I went there shortly after it opened and was surprised. i think it must cater to the faculty of state. god knows, most students aren't sophisticated enough to appreciate it.
10/26/2005 12:49:24 AM
if you like sangria the last time i was there 3 months ago it was real good
10/26/2005 12:51:23 AM
You could order one of their nacho plates and feed too pple easily.
10/26/2005 12:56:35 AM
you have to try the bleu cheese mac and cheese side dish and the oysters w/ wasabi sauce appoh and foster's next door is nicer and more pricey if you are looking for a really nice place(i think it's fosters is that the name?)
10/26/2005 1:03:54 AM
it's frazier's and it's owned by the same people
10/26/2005 1:13:29 AM
great resturant, nice date environment if thats what you're going for, and the prices are quite low for the quality of food you getthey have a *rare* tuna appetizer thats awesome...comes with a thai dipping sauce and a mound of something that resembles slaw...real nice dish.
10/26/2005 1:29:42 AM
very nice, relatively cheap, and good food
10/26/2005 2:29:17 AM
10/26/2005 2:43:58 AM
their fish tacos are a fucking disgraceother than that though, the place aint bad
10/26/2005 2:51:15 AM

10/26/2005 2:53:49 AM

10/26/2005 3:56:41 AM
i hardly even eat anymorei had a double cheeseburger all day and a bunch of unhealthy snack food
10/26/2005 3:57:43 AM
Great great place... it's a favorite of my wife and I.
10/26/2005 8:42:10 AM
I love that place. I thought the prices were reasonable for how good the food was.
10/26/2005 9:00:44 AM
Potstickers and fried oysters. I wish I was still in Raleigh

Only been there a few times, but I really like it. The fried green beans appetizer is very good, I'd recommend it. The shrimp and grits are very good, as are the southwestern tavern chips, and the thick cut pork chop w/bleu cheese mac n' cheese is outstanding.
10/26/2005 10:18:17 AM
10/26/2005 10:25:50 AM
I don't think anything on their menu beats their rack of lamb.goddammit.an hour and a half till lunch.
10/26/2005 10:26:43 AM
i know the people that own porters, they suck. they failed at opening a pizza place in the middle of a huge fucking subdivision. how bad do you have to suck to fuck that up?
10/26/2005 10:30:56 AM
Porter's is my favorite in Raleigh, hands down.
10/26/2005 11:16:25 AM
fucking delicious
10/26/2005 12:32:12 PM
10/26/2005 12:57:55 PM
I didn't find it that "spohisticated"
10/26/2005 1:55:07 PM
good deal, so jeans and a nice shirt would be appropriate for this place?
10/26/2005 2:57:00 PM
^ Yes it should be. Apart from all the food recommendations above, what I like is that they carry Rock Rabbit Syrah, which I consider to be a great bang-for-the-buck wine. And if your girl likes sweet stuff, get her some chocolate torte for dessert, it works like an aphrodisiac [Edited on October 26, 2005 at 3:21 PM. Reason : .]

10/26/2005 4:46:47 PM

10/26/2005 4:49:03 PM
Nice. Especially at night- so is Fraziers if it is still open. Same owner. My sister goes to Fraziers before the theatre all the time.
10/26/2005 6:54:36 PM
So what's the difference between the two then?
10/26/2005 7:37:10 PM
fraisers is much more formal, much pricier, and much smaller.
10/26/2005 8:05:58 PM
where is frasiers?
10/27/2005 4:31:27 PM
Porter's is also nice for girls night out...The fried green bean were very interesting!Lovely date place.
10/27/2005 4:34:04 PM
Frazier's is next door to Porter's, on the left. Very narrow storefront with large windows, aluminum trim, and a large illuminated "F" as the only visible signage.
10/27/2005 5:25:09 PM

10/27/2005 6:51:36 PM
